Prosecutors Friday filed two felony charges against Joshua Dyess
accusing him of assualting a first grader this week at Red Apple
Elementary School.
Dyess is charged with 1st degree sexual assualt of a child and child
enticement. He faces 50 years in prison and $200,000 in fines if
convicted on both accounts.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators found Dyess's
fingerprints in the bathroom where the boy alleges that the assualt
took place. Dyess admitted to investigators that he had been in the
school and the bathroom. He claims he was there to pick up a
transcript for his sister, who was previously a student at the school.
Dyess says he went into the bathroom to clean himself up from a sexual
encounter he had just before entering the school. He claims he helped
the boy, who was having trouble gettng toilet paper off the roll.
Dyess matched the description provided by school staff and was
arrested Wednesday night.
Red Apple Parents found out about the assault from a letter brought
home by students.
"There should have been a phone number at the bottom of this letter
stating where parents can contact if they have any questions," said
Ross.
In the letter, the school said that an intruder walked into the school
undetected, grabbed a little boy, and molested him in a bathroom. The
school stated the intruder came in through a door that's always
locked, but the inclement weather is blamed for not shutting it all
the way.
"How is he able to wander about this building without anybody asking
'Excuse me, sir, who are you here for?' "
Ross is frustrated and called the school to get answers, but no one
picked up.
The principal of the school assures parents that safety precautions
are being taken.

It is perhaps much more difficult to say that a human being could sink so
low that one might acrtually commit such a depraved offense.
I've been thinking about that alot lately. How man is inherently flawed, yet
people's pride prevents them from acknowledging their own flaws, and that
this sense of false and unfounded pride can allow one to live in an entire
world of denial. We deny our flaws and construct an understanding or an
interpretation of our world which is built specifically to accommidate the
things which we choose to deny or affirm as truth. I think that everybody
does this to a large extent.
It would be interesting to understand what kinds of things such a rapist
might affirm or deny, what kind of mind they are operating as they fall into
such a horrific hellish pit, what kind of things does such a person
believe - as one stalks children in a school ? What kind of fantastic world
of lies must one live within to be able to justify such an act ?
Perhaps even more frightening is the undeniable fact that when a person
commits a crime, somehow, it is because it was willed by his/her own mind.
How is it possible that the human mind can will for others to be tortured,
or gassed, raped, genocide, racism, etc etc etc. We want to DENY that the
human mind can run such a program of hate, but it's true. The mind _can_
think those things, and if one does not take decisive steps to prevent it,
the mind _will_ do those things.

No, only that our moral and ethical understanding of the world is very much
like allegory of the cave, because we form ideas based on what we believe or
accept as truth. And our beliefs must be formed by some concoction of

I think that we need to support religious thought, even if the church is
inherently flawed, it's better than a Godless free-for-all. And there is
virtually no discussion of ethics today. Everyone's moral compass is their
own invention. There is plenty of "tough on crime" related stuff, but almost
nothing on ethical outrages which are literally everywhere. People only care
about one thing, and that would be money.
I agree on the immigration thing. We put people in prison for less. Some of
them have jumped the fence many many times, yet oru own people have a
3-strikes law - 3 felonies and you get LIFE. And LIFE in prison is NO JOKE.
So - why are foreigners allowed 20, 50, 1,000 strikes and no consequences ?
