I bought a 2000 Ford Expedition there 4 months ago. Got a pretty good deal.
However, after getting the vehicle home I looked at the sticker and found a
problem. The sticker said I was charged $200 for aluminum rims and there
was a Firestone Tire Warranty slip in the paper work. Problem was there were
styled steel rims and Continental tires on the truck. Well, when I returned
to pick up my License plates I walked out with a $200 check for the rims.
While waiting for them to make up their minds as to how to remedy the
situation initially I heard three different stories from sales staff why the
rims did not match the invoice. Everything from a salesman had ordered the
change before we selected the vehicle to "it came from the factory that
way." The salesman initially tried to argue with me that the rims on the
vehicle were aluminum until I pulled out a magnet and it stuck to the rim.
I will not take the Expedition there to be worked on.. With in a week after
purchasing the vehicle the rear passenger door window shattered while I was
driving down the freeway. I claimed defective window, they stated they
would look into it. Ultimately my insurance cover the claim which also
required inside door panel and a molding piece on the outside to be replaced
due to glass cuts. Texan accepted the insurance repair quote and we waited
almost a month for parts. Finally Texan service department called and said
the parts were in and to bring the Expedition in. I told them I wanted the
replaced parts, no problem. I went out observed the door panel had been
replaced. Paid the bill which was $20. less than that the insurance quote.
As I was preparing to leave I started looking at the bill (which I did not
receive until I went to the cashiers window) and I noticed that the trim
piece was not listed. I looked closer at the trim and observed that it had
not been replaced. I went back to the service department and talked to the
manager and started to get the run around. Now after initially have been
told by two service department personnel that the parts were in and that the
repairs had been completed. I now found out that it was going to cost $60
to $80 to get the trim fixed. All they offered was a free oil change for
compensation.
I decided that while the prices were good the service was not. I now take
it to AC Collins Ford in Pasadena for servicing which has been excellent.
Oh yes, check the vehicle out carefully. Six weeks after the purchase, I
was sitting in the Barber's chair admiring my new vehicle when I notice that
I could see right through the right rear wheel well to the bumper. A
plastic partition was missing, it had never been installed the screw holes
were there and had never been used. It was cheaper for me to pick one up
at Collins Ford for $13 than drive clear out to Texan and deal with them.
This was my experience with Texan Ford some good, some bad.
