Maybe someone that knows more will answer but I believe it has a speed
limiter programmed into the module. You can replace it with a module from
Superchip with doesn't have the speed limiter programming.

You might find more info at http://www.superchips.com/

Welcome to the club, I have the same problem with my 98 Ranger. It's called
electronic governing. If you search the web you can find a computer chip to
tweak your computer to let your truck "run better" and eliminate or raise
the 95 mph limit. I think it's a couple hundred bucks though.

Actually, it looks like you ran into the rev limiter see:

Does this addition under the hood void the warranty?

Adding a power chip can void your warrenty (i talked to my dealer abou it)
Unless you pay the dealer to install it which in my humble opinion is too
much money. My truck (1997 f-150) just elapsed its warrenty so now im
really thinking of puting in a chip.

Ask your dealer if he is aware of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. It is a
federal law that governs consumer product warranties. Aftermarket products do
not void a manufacturers warranty unless (and the burden of proof is on the
dealer) the dealer can prove that the aftermarket part caused the damage.

paul the problem is that the power chips tend to cause damage to engines.
Especailly if you put them in so you can push your truck harder. In The 4.6
liter the chip causes oil seals to blow, among other things. Its not hard
to prove that something damaged an engine, thats purpouse was to up the
horsepower and Torque by raising the RPM's to dangerous levels. In this
case its a very good possibility that the chip will cause damage to the
motor, therefore voiding warrenty's

Just how fast do you want to go?
The upper limit on most Fords is between 104 and 115 except on performance
cars ie: Cobra, Lighting, SVT Contour etc.

I suspect he wasn't ASKING for "approval" for going faster - just a way to
DO it...

OK if you want to go faster than than the speed limiter will let you. you
must install a overide switch to the fuel pump relay. When you do this make
sure an isolate the added circuit with diodes so it will not affect any
other system when not in use. "good luck"
