About right. It will get better as you get some mileage on the clock.

Is there still a big difference in the mileage between the Auto and a
properly operated Standard, or is that a thing of the past by now?

Standards if used properly can achieve better use of the engine. Often
there is mileage difference. My auto has a lot of mods and I drive the
thing like I stole it. I have heard stories of folks with 3.73 gears
getting over 20 mpg with a manual trans.
