The ports are the same shape but the CJ ports are much larger. The
bolt patterns are the same however.

They didn't, which would lead me to assume he has the Motorsport
heads.

Aluminum CJ heads are available from Ford Motorsports and they
will fit a 429 or 460.

Chances are you will have to spend the cash on the Hookers or else
go with a set from L&L. The L&L headers are fenderwell and are very
nice but they aren't cheap either. There is a chance the 74-79 headers
will fit but unless the documentation claims this you may be taking a
chance. The best thing to do is find a 74-79 F100 and compare it to
yours. I'm fairly sure they never put the 460 into a half ton truck
but I might be wrong here. I know for a fact they didn't put the 460
in the 4x4 till the mid 80s.One thing to watch if you do find a set is
the exaust port size. If the header isn't made for the CJ heads you
will have a mismatch and will lose power at least, and perhaps have a
leak if the flanges don't cover enough of the port.
Good luck,

I know I run these heads (C460) on my 4x4 truck puller... the bore is
4.600" and the rockers were $1400 from Crane. T&D and WW Engineering
make rockers for around $1300 now. You are correct any 429/460 header
will 'bolt up' however I would check to make sure there isn't a very
bad mismatch. A set of headers designed for the standard 429/460
passenger car port could be smaller than the CJ port opening by as
much as 1/4". This would create a substantial power loss if not
corrected. The 460 and the 429 do share the same rods by the way,
unless you get into exotic stuff like the old Boss 429 or Nascar
parts. The crank and pistons are the only difference.
