Hello,
I have a '94 S10 with the 4.3 V6 engine. It has the balance shaft. I
would like to change the cam to a little better performance one. I have
noticed that most of the performance cams note that they are not for use
with the balance shaft. I haven't looked inside this engine yet. Can someone
tell me what the difference is with the cam for the balance shaft engine and
the non balance engine? Could I modify a non balance shaft cam to fit in a
balance shaft engine? I would really like to keep the balance shaft, this is
a daily driver I am just trying to improve a bit. Thanks to all,

David Algie.

It does say there that you shouldn't use the stock timing set, this may mean
that the stock timing chain/ gear has a balance shaft attachment or
something on it.

Uhh, no.

THat means pay $50 for Edelbrock's timing set, and install that with the new
cam. It's $50, so it's not radically more expensive than the OEM timing set.
It's a strength issue.
