PRAGUE -- SkyEurope Airlines AS suspended its operations Tuesday and
said it has filed for bankruptcy.
The operating unit of Vienna-listed SkyEurope Holding AG said the move
was "due to the lack of sufficient interim funding to finance ongoing
operations."
SkyEurope's flights from all its hubs, including Bratislava, Vienna and
Prague, have been canceled.
Trading in the company's stock was suspended from the start of trading
on Tuesday, a statement from the Vienna Stock Exchange said Tuesday.
Through its Web site, SkyEurope advised passengers who paid for flights
with credit cards to seek refunds from the card's issuing bank, adding
otherwise refunds may not be available.

Flights from Manchester to Bratislava and Luton to Prague, Bratislava,
Kosice and Poprad(Tatry). The latter airport no longer has any scheduled
flights, from anywhere.

That will be the second "Europe" airline that's gone bust

Perhaps the name is jinxed

That'll put it in the same league as Manston then.
Manston International survives (just).

We'll have to see if anyone else picks up the route now that Sky Europe
has proven the infrastructure and a reasonable demand (all the flights I
saw were full). I wouldn't be surprised to see maybe Czech having a
proper flight at least for the weekends (currently they bustitute it
from Kosice - two hours!)
