Also, the first time this vp was activated, it locked up within the
first hour. All you saw was the cat sitting there. No buttons would
work. It had to be reset.
I am successfully raising a Komputer Koala (16 years old today),
following Donna Weinstein's instructions about using the tricks to raise
discipline level. I *never* have to yell at him. His meters are all high
level :-)
Any help on Salem (Sabrina's cat) would be appreciated! TIA!

I have Salem. He's always low on discipline. The tricks only
seem to raise the discipline if he hasn't learned them yet.
After that, the only way seems to be the cruel way. I can
keep his stats high for the most part but discipline is always
around 20. I tried to keep his discipline high the first time
I got him going but he died at 4:30 am the next morning, only
a year old....poor kid.
My wifes got the Kohala but health is always low. This morning
he was shaking. A quick trip to the doctor cured him but still
only around 52 percent but very happy. :) How do you keep the
kohala's health up? Feeding and playing don't seem to do it.
Later,
Scott
I don't own the Koala, yet, but I read an earlier posting that
said the instructions are wrong for that pet. Eucalyptus, I believe,
should be a TREAT, and milk should be the normal healthy food.

That's odd, a real Koala eats Eucalyptus exclusively, and
hardly drinks anything, taking all it's nourishment from the
leaves. The origin of the animal's name means something like
"never drinks", since it rarely drinks water.

Thanks, swapping the food products has jumped the health up
dramatically. Yes, it doesn't make sense, but the Koala
is alot happier.

I want to know how to keep my daughter's damn Salem alive! Every single
night when it sleeps it has to be reset in the morning. I even took care
of it last night and it STILL had to be reset. My son's Dalmation is doing
much better, although both toys crapped out on New Year's Day after a busy
night.
Do they not sleep for a long period or something? My daugher likes to
sleep late. This seems to be a very high maintenance gigapet. Any help
would be appreciated.

It was fine for the rest of that day, but that evening the screen simply
froze and none of the buttons work. I haven't tried resetting because
I've got too many other pets activated now anyhow.
I do have a 101 Dalmations too and it's definitely less cranky. Haven't
figured the love meter thing out either, though.
Bad news for late sleepers--GigaPets wake up at 7am and go to sleep
between 9 and 10pm. You might want to set the clock a couple of hours
behind if you like to sleep in.
In sum, I think Gigas in general are high maintenance. I think
Tamagotchi are actually easier for a child to take care of, once you get
past the first hour when it needs almost constant care.
Yes, Salem is high maintenance. Mine died the first night I had it.
What I have learned is if it's hungry, feed it fish and keep this level
up. I kept mine around 80+. If it's unhappy, play the ball of yarn
game with it. I kept this at 80+. As long as you keep this up and
don't over do it on the icecream (treat) then the health should be in
the 90's. I have never taken mine to the doctor.
Now for discipline; If discipline is low, make it do tricks. Give
it a trick to do and make it do the trick over and over until it
get's it right. Don't reward the cat once he gets it right! Just
go on to the next trick and work on that one. For each trick he
does right, his points go up, I think by 10. I was able to keep
the cats discipline level at 80+ easily by doing this. I have never
had to use direct discipline on him.
Now for the sad part; After figuring this out I was able to keep the
cat alive and happy (average total 80+ for 4 days, then he locked up.
I RESET and started again.
This time he lived for 2 days and locked up. I RESET and
got him to live for 8 days and he locked up a third time. I have
given up.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Another sad note; My wifes Koala, after 18 years of bliss, sprouted
wings this morning and flew away with a smile on its face. I assume
it went to heaven. By the way, Koala is easy to maintain once you
get the milk and leaves reversed.
Regards,
Scott
My Salem went to bed evernight at 9:00pm but would never wake up on it's
own. I had to turn it's light on every morning at around 7am before all
its stats would start dropping.
By the way, mine froze 3 times. So I've applied the 3 strikes your
out policy.
