[G1][DVD] Order of Season 2 Episodes?

There was an episode in which the Combaticons popped up before their origin
episode. I almost stopped the DVD and watched the origin episode first, but it
was like 3:00am in the morning and I didn't feel like getting up and changing
the DVDs. I checked the episode listings in the Takara reissue box binders and
it didn't look like their listing matched up with the box sets, either.

The Combaticons first appeared in "Aerial Assault," which aired before the
episode in which they were created, "Starscream's Brigade."

I don't remember if the reissues list the eps in the US or Japanese order,
but the Japanese order is WAAAY out of whack. Seemed they just randomly
picked some. The eps with Skyfire didn't air until the end of the series,
so you get weird things like Countdown to Extinction airing months before
The Ultimate Doom. And two eps never aired in Japan (along with The
Rebirth eps, but Japanese dubs exist for all 5 of these episodes and are
the only eps with the original English audio included on the Japanese R2
DVD boxes). Plus there were minor cuts for time, apparently. The
Japanese airing of G1 was almost as bad as a US airing of a Japanese show,
except they didn't change the music and SFX or do any cuts for the purpose
of censoring content that may be considered offensive.

the BW DVD episodes were out of order.

As I've said very recently, "Aerial Assault" marks the first appearance of the
Combaticons, and was originally aired before "Starscream's Brigade," in which
they were created.

Hmmm thats kind of crappy. Plus the Arielbots are all gung ho in that
episode
and in War Dawn they are not.

Hmmm . . . I understand why Rhino would put the disks in airing order,
but I was hoping they would resuffle them for the sake of continuity.
Aerial Assault should of course take place after Starscream's
Brigade/The Return of Bruticus. Likewise, The Gambler would have
worked best immediatly following Child's Play. Any other examples of
episodes that should have been reshuffled?
(Season 3 will prove even worse if they go with the airing order. Be
a shame if Dark Awakening was at the beginning of the season, and if
they didn't air Fight or Flight, Thief in the Night, Starscream's
Ghost, Ghost in the Machine, Grimlock's New Brain and Money is
Everything in that order.)

The impression I've gotten is that they want to remain as close to the original
episode presentation as possible. Which is, of course, why they're littering
the audio tracks with new sound effects. <insert flame war here>

Why? It's *supposed* to come near the beginning of the season. (During "The
Return of Optimus Prime," Rodimus says that the Quintessons had revived Optimus
once before. He doesn't say that they revived him a few days ago.)

I've already explained to them the difference between the production order of
the episodes and the chronological order. It's in their hands, now.

Since Season 3 will be broken into two discs, there's nothing stopping them from including the original Dark Awakening on the first
set, with the revised version in the second set. Unless, of course, they don't have the version which has the voice over.
I don't think there's anything to worry about concerning the order of "Starscream's Ghost" and "Ghost in the Machine" since SG aired
almost three weeks before GitM, though "Thief in the Night" may end up following SG since Rhino appears to be going by the production
numbers.
Since season 3 will be two sets, I'm guessing that the discs will be structured similar to the season 1 set. 3 discs of 5 or 6
episodes, with a special features disc included for the box set.

series-- the Production Order and the Original Airing Order. And, neither of
those are necessarily the Chronological (Storyline) Order that we'd all like
them to be in.
