So I got me a Darth Vader/Death Star toy last week, and I gotta admit
I really like it. I wish his upper arms could swivel, but other than
that I think its a darn good TF. Well, except for the fact that it's a
crazy SWTF, in that it turns into an SW character. So I took his head
off. Then I gave him a new one courtesy of a big, brown Armada
Megatron knockoff. Now I'm VERY pleased.
All that's left is... who IS this guy?
I'd love to call him "WarWorld" -- I've always wanted to see G2's War
World transform -- but the Death Star mode looks nothing like the War
World. It's just too much of a stretch.
I'd also love to have a transforming moon for either Cybertron or
Unicron. But the idea of Unicron having a moon is hard to accept
(since he'd probably eat it), and I can't see this toy as a moon of
Cybertron because it looks too evil.
So instead I've decided to cook up an original characterization for my
customized SWTF DV/DS. His name is either going to be "Darthstar" or,
more directly, "Deathstar". But before I formulate his concept, I'm
wondering if anyone out there has seen any other fan-chracter concepts
for this guy?
If you've come up one yourself, or seen someone else's somewhere, I'd
love to know more. Thanks in advance!

Any pics Greb? I'd love to see what that looks like actually!

Whoever you like! That's half the fun of customizing! 8^) Unicron's
protrusion from another dimension called Galvicron? Duocron?

I was thinking Darth Star myself. I'm still deciding how to give him a
"Violenjiger" backstory without pulling a "Midichlorin". I have ideas for a
number of the figures, even ones I don't want to get. (Making me want to get
a Mace Windu/Windstar toy, considering the character I gave him, but I'm not
into the Jedi Starfighter robot modes.)
He's actually...

I feel the same way about the Movie Leader Optimus Prime -- nifty toy,
but I don't much care of the character that he transforms into. It
looks a little like Optimus Prime, but doesn't quite get there. I need
to get painting to remove those bits of Optimus Prime that are still
on the toy...

I think he'd look very nice with a classic Megatron Bucket Head. And
then painted to look like RID Windsheer -- a nifty deco that would use
the black plastic on the body to good effect.
Maybe a Headmaster.

War World IV -- a new, improved War World. Sleeker, smoother.

I'd want to pull him further away from the Star Wars universe. Give
him a dark brown and then a gold wash across the exterior to
completely change the look of the Death Star.
Well, as completely as you can given that he's a ball.
And a faux Roman name, something that just doesn't inspire.
Or just paint the outside gold and have Vector Sigma transform into
Darth Vader for the sheer weirdness of it.

Hmm. This is what I can come up with off the top of my head.

Name: Orbus
Function: Decepticon Surveyor and Transport
Motto: "I have no visible means of propulsion."
Haughty and magnificent, Orbus takes immense pleasure from appearing
to defy the laws of physics. 600 meters in diameter in sphere mode,
exceptionally well armored, and with powerful defensive force shields,
Orbus makes an impressive display hanging above a city for weeks while
cataloging a planets resources and technologies.
All too often, Orbus is a herald of death and destruction, as he
reports his findings back to Shockwave, who will dispatch Decepticon
forces to subjugate the planet and squeeze it dry.
In sphere mode, he is armed with a mighty plasma cannon, capable of
burning a city off the face of a planet, or cutting through Autobot
defenses. He seldom transforms to robot mode, but is a towering,
powerful warrior when he does, armed with a blaster and an immense
energon sword.
Despite his vast size and power, Orbus seldom engages in combat,
finding such petty struggles beneath him. He will float through the
battle, untouchable behind his shields, and observe the life and death
struggles with a hint of bemusement.
Though he can carry a large number of Decepticons into battle, or
ferry them between star systems, he'd rather not.

The main image I had was from Arthur C. Clarke's "Childhood's End"
where the alien ship just sits there and everyone just slowly gets
accustomed to it. There's a certain grace to being a giant floating
ball with no visible means of propulsion or support.
Gustavo!
For right off the top of your head, that's a really good
characterization. Woof!
In reference to the name "Orbus": I like it! Along similar lines, I
came up with a couple of names for transforming moons myself, a while
back. It was when I was watching War Planets (aka Shadow Raiders). I
was keen on the Battle Moons, and was bemused by the idea of
Cybertron's moons being secretly transformable defense satellites. The
names I came up for them were "Mons Montus" and "Orbis Alterra".
