So a few days ago, Hasbro Pulse notified me that they had restocked on a few items, including Studio Series Scourge. Ideally I had been thinking that I wanted about three Sweeps, in addition to Scourge himself. I had previously pre-ordered them on Entertainment Earth, but Hasbro Pulse had them in stock and ready to ship.

They were limiting the toys to two per customer, so I ordered two Scourges, but just for fun I tried to place separate order for a third Scourge. I figured the worst that could happen was that they'd cancel the extra order (or maybe both orders if they really wanted to be douchebags).

Turns out I was easily able to circumvent the quantity limit. I got the order with two Scourges yesterday and I received the packaged with the third Scourge today. I guess maybe they might have tried to put a stop to it if I'd tried to completely clean them out, but I would imagine that I'm not the only fan on the planet who wants to own more than one Studio Series Scourge.

While I was waiting for Hasbro Pulse to fulfil my orders, I also picked up another Studio Series Scourge at Walmart. Yes, I'm a little bit crazy, but at $30 a pop it's actualy less expensive than gobbling up Zhong Jin G1 Scourge reissues. (I never bought more than one of the wing-shaped Generations Scourge toys from 2010 because I felt it was inadequate. I did gobble up quite a few of the Titans Return Scourge toys, though, due in part to Walmart having a big clearance sale on them.)

So as an aside, I learned recently that Hasbro actually does two different types of shipping case distribution. For retail shops like Walmart and Target, they do the usual assortment of multiple characters. For online shops, though, they send out full cases of single characters. So, places like Big Bad Toy Store or Amazon aren't breaking up cases to ship to customers. They weren't getting stuck with tons of extra Earthrise Megatrons when people were ordering multiple Quintesson Judge toys, and they're not cherry-picking Scourge toys out of cases to fulfil my orders and getting stuck with lots of leftover Studio Series Hot Rods.

This also explains why Gustavo Wombat's order for Kingdom Cyclonus was fulfilled at a different time than his order for Optimus Primal, despite them normally shipping together in the case assortment.

This means, I would imagine, that Hasbro is probably manufacturing and shipping a larger quantity of Scourge toys than some of the other characters—I mean, on some level they have to recognize that people are armybuilding with Scourge in a way that they're not going to do with Kup or Jazz or Blurr. (They'll do it with Studio Series Gnaw, too, when he comes out. I haven't decided how many of those I want to buy yet.)

Zob (never actually got around to cancelling my Entertainment Earth preorder, so I may just end up with a whole box full of Sweeps)

So I did end up getting my order from Entertainment Earth today. This brings my total Sweep count up to seven, plus Scourge. This is clearly a case of conspicuous comsumption, but it's also a correct and accurate number of Sweeps to own as per "Call of the Primitives" so I'm okay with it. I was not prepared to buy armybuilders of that stupid wing-shaped thing from 2010, but it's highly unlikely we'll ever get a better Scourge than this outside of the Masterpiece line, so this is my official troop builder toy.

And, interestingly, they just sent me a full shipping case with "TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES VOY 86 SCOURGE" on it. I knew I had read that the shipping cases that Hasbro sent to online retailers (single characters per case) different from the ones they shipped to retail stores (mixed assortments of characters), but it's nice to see actual confirmation of this for myself.

It's so beautiful that I almost don't want to open it.

I am aware that there is a Studio Series Sweep toy coming, but I have a very strong suspicion that Hasbro is going to change the color scheme on it just slightly from Scourge to distinguish the two toys. To me, at least, that's unacceptable. Sweeps don't look different than Scourge. However, if I'm wrong, then the only real difference is that it will say "Sweep" on the box instead of "Scourge," and I open these toys anyway so a difference in packaging is irrelevant to me.

...However, if the paint job on the Sweep toy is *clearly* superior and more cartoon accurate than the Scourge toy, I'm going to be a trifle miffed.

Zob (not sure how many Studio Series Gnaw toys I'm going to buy, but something tells me it's going to be more than one)
