You can feel free to consider this some type of news. Every piece of
transformers I have will be going up on ebay. This includes all loose,
packaged and carded tfs(american, japanese, european), as well as my
massive variation inventory. The link:

The first 100 auctions will start today, with an additional 100
auctions next month. I'll be selling until it's gone. Items have been
grouped into lots. To save myself time and misery, the following
applies up front:
-I will not be ending auctions early for anyone outside of close
friends or autocon group members, so please do not ask. If you want
it, make a substational offer to end the auction now, or just bid on
it and hope you ride to victory.
- I will combine auction wins into one package for mailout, depending
upon size, your location, and the needs of my shipping service(they
have strict fees and guidlines, which I follow). Those items will be
noted in the invoice I send at auctions end.
- READ THE AUCTION DESCRIPTION. This will include helpful info on the
significance of the piece (rarity, type of variant, etc) as well as
information on shipping/handling(flat-rate based on location).
- The pictures of the items on the auction are all I have, so *no*, I
cannot take additional pictures. Sorry.
- The items that do not sell will be donated to Goodwill for the tax
writeoff, so if you have even an inkling of wanting something, make a
grab for it now, because you get exactly one shot at it. With this
much stuff, I can't afford to waste the time to do second-chance
offers or relisting, or what-not. I will, however, take the time to
file with ebay and leave negative feedback on any flakers, per my
usual policy. Do not bid if you do not intend to pay.
- I'll likely not bother answering any questions you ask me, and if I
do, it will be merely for my own amusement, and in a demeaning and
sarcastic tone. Everything you need to know is already in the auction
description.
If some of this sounds harsh, well... that's because it is, and I make
no apologies for it. As some of you know, I've pondered long and hard
on the state of transformers and my continued participation in it. And
thru it all, one thing I had always decided was that...I needed to
weed down my collection. I was just never sure how. I knew I had to
draw a line somewheres, maybe around 85 or 86, but I just couldn't
figure it out. (see my articles here:
http://www.geocities.com/futuristgroup/tfadvicenew.html for that)
Well, I figured it out, folks.
I'm not drawing a line at all.
To those with concerns that this might impact other areas of my
participation in transfandom, rest assured that I will still be here
and, for the moment, continue in my usual capacity as absentee lurker
:-) All I'm doing is getting rid of the chaff. One man cannot own all
the toys.
One man shouldn't.
For those that want to continue to try, I tip my hat to you. In my
case, however, those days are gone. Hasbro has won. And jolly good to
them for doing so. With their massive longterm product campaign,
they've managed to unseat yet another well-entrenched transfan.
Bravo.
22 years of collecting is enough for me.
Regards,
Fred
Well, it was from one of your auctions that I got a bunch of Motobots
and Zybots, so I won't complain. Still, if somebody who likes Mars
bars eats 20 of them and feels ill, it doesn't quite follow that a Mars
bar once in a while is a bad thing. Moderation is very important to
any collecting hobby, whether it is stamps or shoes or trains or
transforming robots. It's a bit harsh to single out this particular
collection as 'mental slavery', though that was somewhat less than
serious. It is a shame that Botcon has drifted away from its roots
as a for-fans by-fans convention, but there's other conventions.
I suppose it's also true (as said in your articles) that one man's
prized collection is another man's trash, but this doesn't really
matter to me. I have a few old light fixtures, virtually worthless,
whose design still pleases me enough to keep them working.
(Come to think of it ,though, I did draw a line in the sand WRT
Transformers -- most of mine are small, 1:120 to 1:64 scale,
or convert to mecha-beasts, which can be any size...this was
originally because I wanted them to scale with HO (1:87) trains. )
Cordially yours:
