Why, tv-nihon? Why? Galaxy Force ep50 Comment (SPOILERS MAYBE)

always thought that tv-nihon could do no absolutely no wrong, but I
just had to comment on this.
So, I just watched episode 50 of GALAXY FORCE which, for the most part,
was the climax of the entire TV series. For some *baffling* reason,
whoever translated this episode at tv-nihon could think of no other way
to translate one of Flame Convoy's exclamations at the 15 minute mark
other than to use the phrase "f--king around" in the subtitles.
Now, I'll confess to being no stranger to the use of profanity;
however, I also know that there are places that profanity just doesn't
belong such as at a religious gathering, in a (professional) workplace,
around your parents, or in a KIDS-aimed television show. I highly
doubt that such a phrase was even in the original Japanese as it is my
understanding that such top-tier profanity is outright banned in
Japanese TV shows (although lesser profanity like "d--n" and "s--t" is
allowed).
Hearing the F-word coming out a Transformer's mouth sickened me, and it
pretty much ruined the rest of the episode for me, the climax episode I
had waited nearly a year to watch.
I can handle and even *expect* to hear the F-word in all of the rated-R
action movies I watch, but it has absolutely no place in a TF episode.
It is an inappropriate and offensive as hearing some Transformer make
derogatory references to human reproductive organs.
I feel for anyone who wanted to show this to any young kids (like I was
hoping to do). I do hope that tv-nihon will have the courtesy and
class to reissue this episode with that sentence retranslated as it
ruins what would otherwise be an important part of TF canon.

It... jarred a little. Not so much for the sentiment or the expression
thereof, but I would have thought the translators could have picked or
created an expression more likely to be used by a race of giant alien
robots.
Whether the translation was incorrect, *too* correct, or there wasn't
really a direct concept-equivalent, I'll leave up to the att-ers who speak
Japanese.
A minor pothole, I'll agree. I guess every translation has to have a
glitch in it eventually.

a native Japanese and he said the profanity was "too direct".

I wonder why they didn't just put "screwing around"? Or would that have
detracted too much from the intent of the scene?

This has bothered me for a long friggin' time. Why in the HELL do you
capitalize titles and shit? Galaxy Force. I think we can all realize
that's the title. You don't NEED to CAPITALIZE it.

So, you're just fine with them saying "shit," but the use of "fucking
around" is too much for you?
(And please, nobody bitch at me for not censoring anything. I feel that
"f--k" is not less offensive than "fuck." You can still tell what the
fuck it is.)

But you didn't hear it. You read it. It's subtitled. 'Duh.'
If it bothers you so fucking much, replace it in your mind with
something else.

Except 'fuck' has been used so much that it can literally be used to
describe just about anything. I'm not joking. Here, just look at
Dictionary.com's list of ways "Fuck" can be used:

Obviously the most 'common' is sex, but it can be used in a lot of
different ways too.
Besiding that, TFs are 'made' to blend in with their surroundings. Jazz
liked human music. Blaster too. And lots of 'other' TFs have gotten
involved in other human-related activities. Who's to say they can't
pick up a few slang terms as well? Hell, in every other episode Prime
was going "As the humans would say..." and then say some random cliche.
I'd go as far as to say that Flame Convoy doesn't even know that 'fuck'
refers to human sex. He probably heard the term 'fucking around' on a
movie or from some random humans. "Quit fucking around and get to
work." "Ah, that must mean goofing off or not doing what you're
supposed to do."

Why the hell are you showing young kids *CYBERTRON?* I don't care if
the dub is better, it's still crap.
Besiding that, if they're old enough to read, they're old enough to
know the word "Fuck." I'd suggest you teach said kids that that's a bad
word, so that they know 'not' to say it. If they just find it by other
means, as they surely will, they won't know how to deal with it.

And as for that post, a lot of the stuff in there is actually a bit of
irony and TF referencing surrounding logical points. The general
overuse of 'fuck' is simply to prove a point.
There's some legit points in there, especially concerning the nature of
TFittude and Humanness interacting. My methods may be harsh, but that's
the way you have to be the get the point across.
You know how I memorize shit and make sure I remember things? I add
random amounts of swear words for emphasis. It works.
