I noticed last night that the individual Sixliner trains seem to have
their own tech spec writeups. It's my understanding that they never
had individual specs in G1, so these would be brand new. Would anyone
be able to translate these for us? I haven't got a scanner, but I
suppose I could head over to Kinko's if necessary. Thanks!

I didn't translate them, but I put them up here if anyone else wants to:

Or you can use one of those online tranlators:

That'd be neat to see, all right. If you could scan & post 'em to a web
site, that'd probably be the most expedient way to get 'em viewed.

Sweet! Okay, I've got a few minutes, for a change, so let's see what I
can do...

Liner Team Members

Warrior #1 LEIF (Tôhoku 200-2000 line Bullet Train)
Has a poetry-loving romanticist side, but his combat style is wild and
destructive. Many are shocked by this gap, but when teamed up with
Spark, Destron attacks are nothing to him. Manipulates wind to take
down his enemies.

Warrior #2 DIEGO (Steam Locomotive)
The leader of the Liner Team and peacemaker of the Cybertron
Micromasters. Contrary to his powerful outward appearance, he is a
delicate logicalist. However, when his anger reaches its peak, not even
his teammates can restrain his power. He is also an expert marksman.

[Yes, I'm sure "logicalist" doesn't exist, but the term basically
translates as a "logic-factionalist," so it doesn't quite mean
"logician," but more a "believer in/follower of logic." Ergo,
"logicalist." If anyone knows a better term, please speak up.]

Warrior #3 NIGHT (EF66 Blue Train) [= Sleeping Train]
A self-style ninja warrior. Operating in darkness is his specialty, and
when the battle stretches out for ages, this tough guy can take it.
Wields the all-purpose machine "Wingard," going into action on land, sea
and air. Has a special ability to control darkness. Rather talkative
for a self-styled ninja.

Warrior #4 ALAN (TGV)
A quiet warrior, more of a logicalist than Diego. Uses his skill at
controlling electrical items. The Mega-techvolt he wields makes the
Destrons shake in their foot casings. In the opinion of the always cool
and gentlemanly NIGHT, Alan tends to fade into the background.

Warrior #5 SPARK (Tôkaidô 100 line Bullet Train)
A young warrior who prides himself on his speed. Among his team, he's
most compatible with Leif, and they often act in concert. Owing to his
youth, he sometimes has his own way with matters and is something of a
roughneck. Specializes in controlling water.

Warrior #6 JOE (Super Hitachi 651 Line Limited Express Train)
A specialist in information analysis. Controlling his probe "Gripper,"
he obtains all sorts of intelligence, analyzes it, and uses it to guide
battles to his advantage. He's a good sort, extremely sociable of
character. His counseling abilities are outstanding, resolving the
worries of many a Cybertron. Uses his skill at manipulating electricity.

Dang, those rock! Thanks, Doug. ^_^ Those are the same character names
as with the original Sixliner -- did they not have individual bios when
the toy was first released? Or are these new ones?

Yeah, a surprising level of character/personality present, considering
some Japanese specs.

Glad to help...

No, these are totally new; the individual members had no specs,
originally. This why the theory developed among fans here that the real
personality was of the gestalt form, and the individuals were
less-consequent segments thereof, and so didn't rate their own specs. I
wonder how strongly this'll affect that view.

I can't think of anything. However, since English doesn't seem to
already have a word with this meaning, I reckon "logicalist" it's more
than good enough.

I suppose we had to have a ninja. Reissue Night comes with the
winglike chestplate, so I assume that combining it with Night's
footplate (so Night's train mode can tow it) produces the Wingard.

Does that last bit seem to be a compliment or a mild insult? Or is
there enough information to make a determination? Re-Alan comes with
Sixliner's hip section, and it does peg into the top of his train
mode, so I suppose that's the Mega-techvolt.

Heh. Joe's missile racks make him easily the most threatening robot
on this team, so it's neat to see him as the intelligence man and the
group's counselor. Re-Joe comes with the fists, so the name "Gripper"
makes sense for his probe. For playtime purposes, I'm assuming that
Gripper is the combination of the fists, gun, head, and right
footplate, which can be towed by Joe's train mode.

Sounds like your assumptions on the Sixliner bots' accessories vs. their
specs are on the money to me, Charles.

Durned if I could figure out what the deal was with Night's comment on
Alan, though; it seemed out of left field to me, even for these specs.
I'm not sure if he was trying to show sympathy or be snide...

Since Night's got that whole "operates in darkness" thing, maybe "he fades into
the background" is Night's idea of a compliment.

I notice that these numbers do not correspond to the numbers assigned
to the mini-trains in the instructions. Can anyone tell me which
robot is which? I understand "steam locomotive", "bullet train," and
"TGV", but the more specific nomenclature is meaningless to me.
Saying "Green and white bullet train" or "Blue and white bullet train"
is about my level of comprehension. :)

Thanks.

Those were the "numbers" assigned to the old Liner Team. "Warrior #_" is the
closest thing they have to "Functions", unfortunately.

Thank you very much! With this information, and the translations
supplied earlier, I have started putting together American style tech
specs for these trains. Leif is the only one I've finished so far.
It can be found at: http://mypage.campuspipeline.com/NicodemusLegend/files/Leif.JPG

I'll try to have the rest (including one for Sixliner) within a week
or so.

Also, I've made a minor change to Leif's, giving him a more specific function.

The project is nearing completion! Here is Joe's. While I can't take
the blame for the character's name, I should protect Doug Dlin, who's
translations I've been using, by setting the record straight in that
he didn't come up with this quote. The blame for that falls on me and
me alone.

Just the merged form to do for now! Any comments or criticisms are
welcome. If I've made a mistake, I can always post a corrected
version.

At last it is done. Here are the Americanized Tech Specs for
Sixliner. This one was a little different than the six mini-train
Specs, in that it is not just a straight copy (with minor editing) of
Doug Dlin's translation. The reason for this is that the existing
translation (also by Dlin, I think) of Sixliner's Tech Specs is from
the original G1 version, which speaks more about the team as a whole
than about Sixliner specifically. It also has those "Teamwork" and
"Cooperation" line items used for Micromaster teams, which didn't seem
appropriate any more, since each member now has an individual spec.
Therefore, I've used elements of the original version, but have
written much more myself to flesh out the character. As always,
comments and criticisms are welcome, and I can always post an updated
version if someone catches something that warrants it.
