It has come to my attention that during this past Christmas Break, my
younger step-brother was allowed access to my internet account for about
a week's time while I was away in Chicago, and he said some pretty
vulgar things that upset a whole lot of people. I would at this time
like to publically apologize to all the people of this newsgroup that he
offended, and in turn I'm hoping that those people can email me at
aaro...@gte.net, so we can discuss what he said to you, because I
couldn't get much out of him. I must ask for all those that email me
back to be completely truthful about what he said and wrote, and if any
of you still have the original postings, that would be appreciated. Rest
assured, I will come up with an apropriate punishment.

I'm posting rather than e-mailing this because I'd like to throw the
question open to a.t.t - do we believe this guy when he says his
little brother was the sex troll known as aaronrus?
I'm not so sure if I believe him. Someone using the same address
posted here several weeks ago and I posted that that 'aaronrus the sex
troll' had returned. He did not post again, nor did he e-mail me. An
innocent guy would have immediately posted or e-mailed me demanding to
know what I was talking about. But this guy has waited several weeks
before trying to explain and he posted his explanation concurrently
with a demand for an emulator. Very suspicious...the 'new' aaronrus
is interested in finding out why he's been called a sex troll only
AFTER he needs something from a.t.t. I suspect the 'new' aaronrus is
actually the 'old' aaronrus who has realised he's burned his bridges
but he has nowhere else to post a Transformers query.
Judging from his latest posts, this 'new' aaronrus has the same
problems with useless aggression that his 'little brother' had:

people of a.t.t.
I have a feeling our old sex troll aaronrus is regretting the fact
that a.t.t is closed for him now and is trying to squeeze back in.
Personally, I don't think anyone who may suddenly put out vile sex
trolls should be welcome in a kid's newsgroup.

'New' aaronrus, if you are genuine, you have my sympathy but I advise
you to get another e-mail address and completely distance yourself
from the name aaronrus.

But, Charlotte, there's STILL nothing the guy can do to the hard drives
of porn spammers, regardless of whether the "new" Aaronrus is a porn
spammer or not. Unless, of course, you know some way to destroy hard

From what I remember there was a thread "Women on the group" that was
flooded with replies by someone with your address. It got pretty damn bad,
and everything I've heard said it was somewhere into 100's of replies by the
one with your address. I can't be sure whether you were the one that was so
nasty about it, but I'd watch out if I were you.

I'm sure many of you have doubts about the validity of my explaination.
I am as upset if not more so than all of you. My little brother violated
and infiltrated the privacy of my computer, and he used my name to
initiate rude and tasteless, not to mention perverted dialogue with
other subscribers of this newsgroup. I'm pissed off at what he did, but
he is my brother, so I'm stuck with him, for better or for worse. He has
always been a mischievous trouble maker. I've only posted to this
newsgroup a few times the past couple of months because I was in the
process of maintaining my grades at FSU, and now I'm all moved in back
home with my parents, so I have a lot more time to devote to conversing
with other Transfans. I'm trying to scrounge up enough money to attend
Botcon, and if anybody is interested in splitting the cost of a room,
contact me. I will not be replacing my username. It was my first
username ever, and the only one I will ever use. The only way to repair
the damage my brother inflicted is to try and earn back everybody's
trust, which will take time.
On a lighter note, I have 84 of the 98 American episodes, all 1st
generation SP recordings by myself from a digital/analog satellite
system or from official Home video releases, VHS, laserdisc, or
otherwise, and I'm looking for people who are willing to part with their
originals that they personally recorded in SP mode from a TV station, in
exchange for SP copies from my masters of the episodes they need plus
extra cash for their spending pleasure. Here's the episodes I need:

abuse and mistrust. Those that believe your story will be waiting for
your little brother to steal your name and start abusing them again.

with you and may even flame you. You would make things so much easier
for yourself if you just changed your screen name.
I know what it's like to be attached to a screen name. I've had the
same screen name and e-mail address for two and a half years. But if
someone polluted my name the same way your little brother polluted
yours, I'd change my screen name in a moment, without a second
thought. Reputation is far more important on Usenet that in real life
because we can't see each other so it's the only thing we have to go
by. The reputation of 'aaronrus' has been thoroughly ruined and your
life would be simpler (and you'd get more sales) if you distanced

Actually my TF episodes recording business is at an all time high in
productivity, and I recieve about thirty emails per day, 20 of which are
not spam, so it isn't that bad. Things are actually going pretty good.
My brother will never be able to get on my computer again, because I am
using Windows NT now, with security options. Thanks for the advice,
though. I just can't part with the name.

Which in my mind lends some credability to his story. I went back through
Deja News when he posted his first message, and the "cut off" seemed quite
clear to me. I remember being quite surprised initially as well, as what was
said did not fit my picture of aaronus at that time.

I have to say I disagree Charlotte. Pretending you're someone else is, in my
mind, just that - a pretense. Things like this CAN happen, and I think it's
better to accept what life has handed you and face it head on than to
basically avoid the problem.
One other thing - if he is in fact the same person who posted previously,
and not his little borther, I'm having a very hard time thinking of a reason
that person would stick with his screen name, especially as far as making
deals.

Besides, doesn't his behavior seem peculiar to you? He posts here,

I can't avoid the problem. Every time I log onto a.t.t. I see the
e-mail of the person who threatened to beat me up and rape me at
Botcon. The same person who threatened to beat up Neale Davidson,
Megatron333 and practically everyone else who was posting at the time.

Stubbornness? Aaronrus the sex troll showed plenty of *that!* He
constantly boasted that he always got the last word. And what better
way to prove it than by trying to trick his way back into a.t.t.?
As for the fact he claims to be still making deals, I'm hardly
surprised. The turnover (lurkers particularly) on Usenet must run into
thousands - thousands a day who haven't been tormented by this jerk.
So why should he worry about using an 'infamous' screen name?

Mozilla 3.01Gold is Netscape Communicator. I believe it is version
3 of the communicator. It runs on both NT and Win95. (I have it
running on my NT machine at work.)
Wether the NT version still identifies itself as Win95 is another
question entirely. I will have to check. (As I recall you downloaded
a different version if you were using NT rather than Win'95 but my
memory is extremely vague on this point so I could be wrong.)

Unless you have proof I wouldn't go there. The only way Charlotte or
anyone else for that matter could prevent your posts from reaching the
newsgroup would be to cancel them.
For someone else to cancel your posts it would require hacking the
news system.
And before someone asks. I could probably do it but it would take a
few days of research for me to figure out and I would probably have to
ask someone how it is done. I feel that I am better off not knowing.
I STILL haven't sucessfully posted the booster message for the fanfic
group.
Anyhow... If you or anyone else think someone is canceling your posts
there are several things you can do about it.
Check for your post on Deja News.
Last I heard Deja News did not honor cancels. There you will see your
post AND the message canceling it.
If it is not on Deja News then odds are that your post never left your
service provider. Check to see if they are having troubles.
If someone IS canceling your posts ask around for help. There are a
bunch of people who make it their hobbies to track stuff like this
down. (I'm not one of them. I have the greatest amount of respect
for those who have the necessary skills to pull it off.)

So basically your computer dual boots. You have NT up at some time but
when you need to access the network you reboot your computer into

Well I just did a test post at work to another newsgroup using
Netscape on
my NT station. The line that would be of interest to you is
X-Mailer: Mozilla 3.01 (WinNT; U)
Meaning I am on an NT station using the normal version of Netscape
(not
the Gold one) I am not sure what the U means.

I don't mean to sound like I'm defending my brother, which I am
definately not, but it sounds like Charlotte was, shall I say, more than
emotionally distressed at the email I sent her. My brother upset several
people on this newsgroup, and apparently none more than Charlotte. I
read the posts on dejanews, and although he is rude, obnoxious, boastful
of himself and perhaps a bit oversexed, as most teenage boys are and
well into adulthood, he never made any threats of violence or threats of
rape to anybody, regardless of what Charlotte claims. The worst thing he
said was "in a week...I'll have you eating out of my lap", and anybody
who has even the slightest knoweledge of figures of speech knows that
this phrase is used to express one's self-image of importance to the
lives of others. In other words, he thinks he's the most popular kid in
school, and people should bow down to his ways. He may be a bigot, but
he is by no means a violent person, nor does he have any violent
tendancies. Charlotte, I'm sorry that you feel so badly, and I don't
mean to insult you, but enough is enough. Your posts sound analagous to
Anita Hill accussing Clarence Thomas of Sexual Harassment, and the boy
who cried wolf combined. I made an effort at an apology for what
happened, even though I was the only actual victim of this whole fiasco,
and you resend a letter with cries of rape and violence. If you really
need a lawyer for all this, then I pity you. Please, Charlotte, end the
imaturity, and quit dragging this thread on and on. If you continue, at
least stop the insinuations and the name calling, and let's all get back

I was out of town for the major part of the so-called women on att thread or
I'm sure I would have been one of the women who courageously stepped forward
and in return were harassed. I did read all of the thread and I believe that
Charlotte said she also received email that was not posted on att.
She is not being immature. All threats of this sort *have* to be taken
seriously. There are women killed and raped all the time who received threats
like this first. I know what it is like personally to live in fear of an
obsessed individual. Charlotte having a lawyer and posting that notice is no
threat to you if you are *not* the individual who made those threats. It
merely asks that you never email her again. Why can't you agree to that? There
is no reason for you to email her whether or not you are innocent.
Trying to discount her fear and downplaying the threats is *not* ok. Many
people try to pretend threats are "only jokes" when they think there might be
repercussions. I'm sorry you feel "picked on" but what happened was wrong. I
don't blame her for feeling fear and discomfort. *I* felt fear and discomfort
as a female wanting to go to Botcon and thinking this individual was going to
be there. I blame whoever was posting those horrid posts under the name
aaro...@gte.net. I don't see how you can say with a straight face that you
were the *only* victim. To say that just shows that you have very little
understanding of the fact that words are real, the people posting are real,
and to expect people not to have strong feelings based on vicious posts is
ridiculous.
It's easy for you to say forgive and forget but face it, time and decent
behaviour is the *only* thing that is going to make this any better. Not
attacking people and telling them to "get over it". Frankly, I'll never trust
you unless someone I personally respect vouches for you.
I apologize if this comes off as too harsh but it is a very serious matter.

Vulcana, I was wondering if could enlist your help. for some reason, I

My current OS is Windows NT 4.0 w/ administrator password protection.
For those of you who are familiiar with NT, it gives you the capability
of running Windows 95 along side of NT. I run Windows 95 to connect to
the internet because my modem, a US robotics 56K winmodem, only runs
under Windows 95. And, Netscape Gold 3.01 is backwards compatible with
NT, and 95. I prefer to use netscape because I like it's browser better.
I want to post another message later, and if you don't mind, I want you
to post it for me. Like I said, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have not yet commented on this thread, or the other, associated ones,
since I felt was not suitably informed about it. However, this has

aaronrus is most definitely handling this situation in the worst

way. Little brother or otherwise, he should apologise; stop posting on

Let us examine aaronrus's above paragraph. The quote, which *is* in

marks is most certainly ambiguous, and in this situation most definitely

speech' and the expression which is in widespread use is "eating out of
the palm of the hand". This expression refers to a person manipulating
a second person to the point where the second person believes everything
the first says without question.
"Eating out of one's lap" is a phrase I have never heard before, and

ATT is read by a mixed audience, I will not say what I thought this
phrase
meant. I mean that most genuinely; let it be sufficient to say that
"one"
would have to be male for this to have the meaning I had thought of.

I have to say that I agree with you totally, and if I had said the
above sentences under those circumstances, then I would be in the wrong,
but the circumstances that you described didn't happen. Believe me when
I say that I have the highest respect for all women's rights, cares, and
fears, but the bottom line is this: Charlotte was never given a rape
threat by anybody who has posted to this newsgroup, ever, and certainly
not under my name. If someone did, then she'd have a right to carry on
and continue to try and blacken my name, but she doesn't have that
right. I do have the right to continue to try and re-establish my name
as one that represents honesty, decency, courtesy, and respectfulness.
Those are the qualities that one would expect from someone who posts to
this newsgroup.

Actually, It requires a password to get to OS loader. Without it, nobody
can boot off the harddrive period. I suppose it could be done with a
floppy, but I destoyed all my NT recovery bootdisks, and nobody I know
is knoweledgable enough to make one.

However, someone with hacking knoweledge did do it. I emailed an
administrator on dejanews, and they fixed the problem. My computer
requires a password to get to OS loader. Without it, nobody can boot off
the harddrive, period. I suppose it could be done with a floppy, but I
