Anyone else not buying the SHOUT headmasters complete series this june/
july? I'm not buying it because I own the UK Metrodome set with the
english dubs.

official reports are comming in that the SHOUT headmasters set won't
have the english dub included in the set.

So basically I already have the metrodome ultimate G-1 TF Collection
which consist of headmasters, masterforce & victory. this set included
the original japanese voice track, option of english subtitles & the
english dubs.

What's so great about the metrodome set is they didn't use the blurry
& fuzzy headmasters animation that the english dubs originally used.
basically metrodome used the superior japananse super clear animation
& added in the english dubs.

metrodome also touched up & made the original japanese animation look
better.

I'll most likely get the SHOUT beastwars DVD complete set. as I don't
own this. as the rhino versions were almost $200 bucks for the entire
3 seasons worth of beastwars. the shout beastwars price is extremly
cheap.

As much as I do appreciate their effort, I already got a complete
Japanese series DVD set from Asia a couple of years ago so I'm good. (If
I have spare money, I might get the domestic release but it's not likely).

At the time I bought them, the G1 stuff was already out of print and
expensive so I quickly snatched up the BW stuff before it went the same
way.

I'll probably buy it unless there's some problem with it. I have UK
sets, too, but I'd prefer to have DVDs in NTSC and not PAL.
Couldn't give a damn about the Omni Productions dub and I'm actually
glad to hear it's being left off.

Thank God for small favors. I don't know if I will be
buying--it depends on whether or not it's missing some footage like
the UK version. It may not be much, but in that case, I would stick
with the old fansubs.

Almost all the major store chains in America & elsewhere sell various
cheaply priced tiny DVD players that play all regions. my favorite
brand is called COBY. Also almost every single PC/laptop computer has
DVD players built in that play every single DVD region.

I'll grab it, but really disappointed about the no RTM1 dub thing.
Good thing I have a set with that already.

I highly suggest everyone here on ATT forget about buying the Shout
headmasters complete DVD set.

Their are still dozens of ultimate "metrodome" G-1 Japanese complete
collections on Amazonuk.com. that consist of headmasters, masterforce &
victory. their are still huge decent clearance sales that various from
50 to 70% off.

Metrodome, did something really amazing with those blurry/fuzzy picture
quality english dubs. they used the japanese super clear animation &
merely used the english dub soundtrack. I think metrodome even used
some japanese music & sound effects.

i'm sorry getting the shout version with no english dubs sounds like a
un-enjoyable watching experience. hearing the japanese words & reading
the english words can be a huge strain on the eyes & just a hassel.

the metrodome version has 3 formats to watch the episodes. (1) watch
them in japanese language. (2) watch them in japanese language with
english sub titles words. (3) watch them in english language.

I hope everyone buys it. Shout needs to be rewarded by us whenever they
do a Transformers DVD project, not punished.

They're also in region 2, PAL, and from what I've been told, missing
footage.
As for the dub, it probably costs extra to put it on and it's atrocious
and frankly a liability. If they put it on, I'm sure every hipster DVD
reviewer on the internet would knock off points for the set's final
score/rating and spend most of the review mocking the dubbing.

Agreed. Especially something like this which is, frankly, a risky
endeavor for them to undertake. This is more fan service then anything
else. If members of the general populace purchase it they'll do good but
I see it being more a thing fans would want first and foremost. Besides,
we've never had this in region one before.

As noted,Their are cheaply priced DVD players that play all DVD
regions. they can be found in american retail chain stores & discount
stores. almost every computer with a DVD built in or put in
afterwards,can play all DVD regions.

According to the Shout guy, Hasbro wanted nothing to do with it because
it didn't represent "their" Transformers (since it was commissioned by
Takara for a different audience). Personally, though, I agree with you.

Anyways no one listens to those on-line/TV/magazine reviewers.
Example: almost every action movie gets negatively slammed & kicked in
the nuts ( TF1 2007 & ROTF),yet they make record high money in
theathres & DVD sales.

But that would actually cost money.

I can actually see a lot of randoms complaining that it's all
subtitled, too. I mean, I don't have a problem with this--I'm fine
with subtitles. In fact, I put captions on my TV for regular English
DVDs. It actually helps rather than hinders--I haven't asked "What did
that guy say?" in years.

$20 at Walmart or however much the Metrodome sets and a region free
player would be?

Yeah, $20 at Walmart. I already have the RTM1 dubs on a bootleg set,
I'm more interested in getting a copy that will work on all of my dvd
players.

Dubbing is expensive, though. And if you try to do it on the cheap you
end up with garbage like Armada. I think the only way that a new dub
could ever happen is if Shout's upcoming release sells like crazy. It's
happened before in the Region 1 anime industry-- a risky title is first
released sub-only, turns out to be a hit, and a dub is produced for the
next release.

Ugh, that kind of irks me. The only reason the three "Takara" anime
were even made was because Hasbro all but gave up on Transformers.

Or at least gave up on the cartoon tie-in. The comics still went on,
after all, and they produced toys for a good three or four years after
that.

Also, the Japanese stuff goes kind of haywire after Headmasters.
Masterforce has fuck-all to do with previous TF series and I don't
actually forsee a lot of people liking it. You'll note that a lot of
people do actually kind of dig Headmasters, at least conceptually, but
next to nobody talks about Masterforce--because they get all sensitive
about their precious robots suddenly being generic Japanese mecha
instead of sentient beings.

I foresee a whole lot of confusion if Masterforce gets released here.

A whole lot.
