Hi everyone,

I got done painting two of the Dollar Tree Primes; I decided to work on
these over Thanksgiving weekend to abate boredom as my wife and mother
in law decided to clean through their old papers.

Please let me know what you guys think. I am contemplating painting the
"before" version into Nemesis Prime.

P/C:

They look good. Prime, to my eyes, strongly resembles Marvel Comics'
version of his Powermaster body, and the proper colors help a lot.

As cheesy as the transformation is, it's at least there, and these
certainly
make nice Actionmasters.

Cordially yours:

Dude, those look good! Makes me want to try and paint mine, but it
wouldn't turn out half as well.

I agree P/C, they look marvelous! I didn't even realize that there were
knock-offs available at Dollar Tree, but in my travles today I'm going to
look at the couple I know of and see if they aren't there. I especially
love the Ultra Magnus paint job you did, the colors blend beautifully!

Thanks for the compliment.

I spent about two and a half days on the paint jobs. Ultra Magnus was
the biggest challenge; he has about 3-4 coats of paint all over his
body, as he started out primarily light gray and gold.

Thanks for the compliment.

I hadn't thought about Prime resembling his Powermaster body, but I can
definitely see the similarities. I think having the Autobot symbols on
his arms makes him look much better.

I think Actionmasters that can transform might be the right description
for these guys, although these have a bit more articulation than the old
action masters =o)

-Punch/Counterpunch, who has only Wheeljack from the Actionmaster line.

Thanks for the compliments, Greenboy!

I heard about the availability of these guys on this newsgroup and
decided to go to my local Dollar Tree. I wasn't really expecting to
find much, but they had about 12 of them on the shelves. I bought four,
and when I got them home it was instant love.

I was wanting to paint these guys, and when I started with Prime, I knew
I just HAD to paint Ultra Magnus, so I worked on both simultaneously.

I had a bit of trouble with Ultra Magnus, as the red in his eyes were
blending in with the white paint on his head, but 3-4 coats of white
paint later, I became very happy with the results.

I hope you are able to find some at your local Dollar Tree. They are a
lot of fun to paint or play with, and only cost a dollar.

The included gun and axe can also fit into the fists of G1 Prime or G1
Ultra Magnus. Personally, I am planning on shaving down the axe a bit
and painting it orange, so it can fit into the "headlight hole" of G1
Optimus Prime. After 22 years, my G1 Optimus Prime will finally have an
energon axe!

You are very welcome because they are certainly in order. Again, wonderful
job!

Do it! You said you bought four, right? That still leaves you with one to
keep "original", and Nemesis is an awesome color scheme, (if you plan on
doing it with the teal color I mean.) If you do, please post the pics!

very good job.

I've been planning on picking up a couple of these myself for cheap
custom prodjects. How difficult is it to take them apart?

Not that tough, as they pop apart as part of their transformation.

While painting them, I just popped the head and arms off.

If necessary, the wheels are easy to unscrew and remove, but the legs
are a bit more difficult to remove, so I would not recommend removing
them.

I used the Enamel Paint Markers from Testors, as they were easy to clean
up and dried fairly quickly. Unfortunately, however, the white did not
cover very well, and ended up turning into a lot more coats than I would
have wanted to put onto Ultra Magnus.
