Why does Depth Charge say Maximize in order to turn into his beast and
transport modes? Why doesn't he say "beast mode"? My take on this is that the
phrase "beast mode" was not used on Cybertron. The obvious reason being that
there are probably no true beast modes there. The Maximals on Cybertron
probably just say "Maximize" for any transformation. Depth Charge, not really
being part of the Beast Wars, just retains the old Cybertronian practice of
saying "Maximize" in order to transform.
In case anyone planned on bringing this up, the reason everyone else says
"beast mode" is because they adopted it when the BW's began, or it was
programmed into them when they were in their stasis pods. Well, I think it's a
pretty good theory, any others out there?

Perhaps someone will, but, let's not forget, at both times when Depth
Charge said, "Maximize," he was alone. Whenever he transformed otherwise
he just transformed without saying any "transformation call." I guess
he's too embrassed to say it in front of anyone else. =)
I think the writers are bringing the transformation calls back in S3
because they were hardly used throughout S2. As stated on Ben Yee's site

show. Because the Transmetal Ultras seem to be the toys being pushed, it
makes sense to me that only Depth Charge and Rampage are the ones to
shout "MAXIMIZE" or "TERRORIZE."
