Hey all,

I just got off the phone (1-800-327-8264) with the people at
consumer affairs at Hasbro. I asked if they had a Rampage Transmetal II
for sale. She check and said yes. I think asked, do you have a Rampage
Transmetal for sale, she said yes. I said, are different correct? She
said YES, one is 25 and the other 12 bucks. I said, "Are you sure it is
not a Ramulus Transmetal II deluxe?' She no, they are not available
through us, only Cheetor and Dinobot TMII deluxes are. I said is it a
II or a 2, she said a II. I asked why isn't this on the product list
for '99 and is it in stores for sale? She said she didn't know and
that, no, it is NOT going to be on sale in stores, only through the
phones at the consumer affairs dept and they only have them in very
limited supply. I said let me order two, she said you can only get
one. I was playing this game for about 15 minutes. After taking down
my information I asked ONE LAST TIME, can please read out what I should
get in the mail and what it should say on the toy....she said...

R-a-m-p-a-g-e T-r-a-n-s-m-e-t-a-l I-I Deluxe....

Within ten days I will tell you what this is....I am stumped and she
assured me it is NOT Ramulus and it is NOT the original TM Rampage which
you can buy from them for 25 bucks with shipping.

By the way, she told me it was 12 bucks, not 12.87, but with different
shipping costs who knows...

Anyone else do this?

Thanks,

Alex

The $12.87 was the total price I was told (which included tax) :)

This can't be possible, since it is a TM2...this is really really screwy...I
am counted on that it will be a Ramulus but hey, you never know...

I hate to sound cynical, but I believe there was a similar instance last
year regarding an alleged Ultra Transmetal named "Sky Wrap". Something is
missing here.....

Yeah. It never existed in any way. A (most certainly kind-hearted and
respectful) Hasbro spokesperson merely read the wrong word over the telephone to
someone, or some other innocent miscommunication.

If it exists.

Sky Warp was supposed to be a repaint of Depth Charge. I am sure, now,
that someone made this up cause I called on a daily bases and ask about
that. Every response was, "We don't have that in our computer." These
operator would be making this up, just to have everyone return their
wrong figure. At least I am going to return it if it isn't Rampage.

They may say limited number/supply but we were told at Botcon '98 that
they have to make
'x' number, say at least 1,000 to even recoupe the money spent on
re-tooling, unless it is just a sad repaint, which it would have to be
for them to try and make a TM2 out of Clawjaw.

I ordered Rampage plus Dinobot and Cheets (haven't been able to find either in
stores, so I'm taking the lazy way out ;). The total order was 36 dollars,
which if you can't divide (busting chops) ='s 12 dollars each.
And if this does turn out to be Ramulus (tho the guy seemed to know what I was
talking about even before I said what I wanted), then I'll have all three TM2
Deluxes, and I won't be the least bit upset... tho that'll teach me to pass by
a new Transformer when I see it on the shelf again ;)

I don't buy it... Why would they make Rampage into a Deluxe toy? He is
already an Ultra! That doesn't make any sense... Why would he shrink so
much when becoming a TM2? I just don't buy it...

Theres a no refund policy you had to agree to in order to order. If you get
the wrong toy, you can't send it back... if you do, in fact, get Ramulus, try
to put him up for auction one-bay... you might make you're money back, plus...
something more...

Me neither. Besides, we all know most of the phone reps are tube-heads and
don't know scrap about their own toys. We would've heard or seen about Rampage
TM2 by now if he exists. And if he does, well, I'll have my own Junkion foot
to chew on for awhile. :)

I think hasbro wanted to offer a small enough size toy so that if the orders
didn't "pour" in, they wouldn't be stuck with hundreds of these huge toys...
plus shipping is a lot more for each large boxed figure than it is for a craded
one.

>> That doesn't make any sense... Why would he shrink so much when becoming a
TM2?>>

Um, the exclusive figure has nthing to do with the storyline. why did rattrap
grow to a deluxe size when he became a TM? CuzHabsro wa doing show characters,
and not making TM basics.. its all about marketing. And if you want to make
bones about it, Rampage was about the saem size as Dinobot in "Feral Scream" so
I think a deluxe Rampage would fit in fine with the cartoon continuity such as
it is.

Not to sound like a wet blanket, but Hasbro has done weird stuff before
with their CS lines. In 1996, they "sold" a Star Wars Virago vehicle
that never made it past the conceptual stages of development, and while
a few people were sent the wrong item, most people just got a postcard
explaining the item doesn't exist. Still, should be neat to see what
happens.

WOW! I never thought anyone would bring up that whole Sky Wrap thing ever
again. I was the one who came to the newsgroup with that story. I was given
bad information from the reps at Hasbro. Sky Wrap was supposed to be some
Ultra sized KB exclusive. IT WAS NEVER MADE! With this in mind, I'm very
skeptical about the existence of a TM2 Rampage. But then again, it is
definately *possible* that it exists. So until the time comes when everyone
proves me wrong... I'm going to have to say it's a big mistake.

You know, I called their number, albeit a little late, and was wondering
just how nice it would be to work a 9am to 4:30pm shift. That's 2 1/2
hours less than I work. Not to mention that they're on Eastern time. So,
if I wanted to call them, being on the Left Coast, I'd need to do it
between 6am and 1:30pm, which is usually when I'm working. Man do they have
it nice :)

I know this is off topic, but I just feel like ranting. Sorry ladies and
gentlemen.

BTW, I hope that those of you who have purchased the TMII Ram aren't too
disappointed if it turns out to be Ramulus.

Also, when did they start allowing orders for their products over the
phone? I thought it was just for Lioconvoy and Shadow Panther. Does that
mean I should be able to order TMII Cybershark through them?
