Heh... well, there is /Astrotrain/ around in 1985... and why would Voyager
head to
Cybertron unless someone deliberately aimed it there... :)

If you look closely, you'll see that Megatron inscribes the disk in
space, with Saturn in the background. In actual fact I believe the
Voyager was closer to Uranus in 1984, but I called for Saturn because it
made a better visual. Why quibble over ringed planets? :)

I am pretty sure that Megatron put the message on the disc while Voyager was
in space. I also think Agenda pt 2 depicted this pretty clearly. they show
Voyager leaving Earth and flying through the solar system and just after it
passes what appears to be Saturn, which I think it did around 1986, they
show Megatron putting the message on the disc. it is pretty obvious from the
background that this is being done in space. i'll admit though i was a lil
confused at first too, thought the same thing too. but i had it on tape so
when i rewatched it i noticed what was actually going on. hope that clears
it up for ya

Hmmm....
I can just see the techs at NASA...
"Hey, we lost track of Voyager!"
"What? Are you sure?"
"Yeah, it just vanished off the scope!"
"Oh, man, there goes our budget..."
"No, wait, look -- we've picked it up again. Odd. OK, I'm getting a
signal now."
"Phew. Let's just hush this up, OK?"

Just some pointless clarification. Voyager 1 and 2 passed Saturn in 1980 or
81, and Voyager 2 passed Uranus in 1986. I'm guessing he reached it when it
flew by Uranus in 86, which would make it Voyager 2, if that's important.
They just chose to show Saturn because it's easier for children to
identify. Voyager 1 was thrown out of the astral plane (i'm sure that's NOT
the right term) during it's Saturn flyby and Voyager 2 went on to visit
Uranus and Neptune.

When I first saw it I was thinking that too. But Then they showed G1 MEGATRON
at the disk and one of the outer planits in the backgound since Earth space
travil is MUCH slower then even G1 Cybertron travel he probaly got to it in
1989 1990(non shown G1 years) when every thing wasn't going so good. Then some
time in the late 90's and befor 2005 he probaly forgot about it becuse the
Cons' stated winning.

Hm.....maybe this can explain exactly what Megatron was doing out in space with
Astrotrain in the G1 ep "Cosmic Rust". If I'm wrong, we'll have a ton a fanfics
on this one.

Because one is a much better punchline for a series of juvenile yet
unstoppably funny jokes?
(One pertaining to a Transformer knockoff... consider the comedy
potential of a HeadMaster named after a certain ringed planet...)
