Beast Wars Second & Beast Wars Neo

my collection, I went through my Beast Wars Metals, Beast Wars Second,
and Beast Wars Neo figures for several hours last night. I re-boxed a
bunch of BWN figures I had opened years ago and opened up several BWM
and BW2 figures for the first time.
Now, I know that Beast Wars Metals is basically what Takara called the
Transmetal stage (Season 3?) of the original BEAST WARS show.
However, Beast Wars Second and Beast Wars Neo are entirely new shows
created by Takara, correct?
Without giving away any spoilers, are either of these shows worth
tracking down somehow and watching through? Were they both
traditionally animated, or was one of them CGI like BEAST WARS? I ask
because some of the toy box art seems to be computer generated rather
than hand drawn.
It is kind of interesting how many of these Takara Beast Wars figures
were released both individually and in "versus" sets including one
Cybertron and one Destron. I have to wonder if completist collectors
in Japan felt compelled to buy all of the inidividual figures -and-
all of the versus sets. I bought a few of the versus sets online in
order to get the one figure in the set that I did not already own
individually.
By far, these are the most incomplete, modern TF toylines I own in
that I am nowhere near to owning them all. Considering how quirky
some of these new molds or redecos are (ex. Stampy the rabbit), it
would have been fun to have gotten all of the BW2 and BWN toys, even
if I never had a chance to watch the actual shows. Considering how
many more ANIMATED and UNIVERSE2 toys are coming out soon, not to
mention a second movie toyline before you know it, my current toy
budget will probably be stretched too thin to ever consider going back
and hunting down those BW2 and BWN toys.

About 5 years ago, I was involved in a trade with another guy from ATT. I
had a Botcon Tigatron and Apelinq, both dead mint figures, boxed, never
opened. He actually traded me a complete BW2 and BW Neo collections, boxed.
The only exceptions were
Tako Tank was loose, but complete
no Starship Cybertron playset
no Niagra playset
no Volcano playset
no Gigastorm
no limited edition recolors or any figures, like Flash LeoConvoy or any
others.
All in all, I was VERY happy to go through with the trade. He did it, and I
was able to replace the 2 Botcon figures the next year at Botcon for LESS
than the figures originally cost when I registered for those conventions.
I've since completed my BW2 and BW Neo collections.

age level than any other TF cartoon series from 1984 thru 2008. Bw2nd
had a much better plot than neo & higher viewer kid age level. While
BWNeo was by far the most kiddie aimed series out of all TF cartoon
series.
Here's the BW 2nd cartoon series plot/arc in a brief description:
Beastwars 2nd takes place in the mainframe CGI Beastwars time line in
the future. the beastwars 2nd crew it appears is looking for optimus
primal & his crew thru the galaxy. something happens & the crew
chrases on gaia,which is earth in the year 2500. apparently when the
G-1 transformers finally destroyed unicron his spark energy fell
towards earth. the bad guys tap into that unicron energy & get there
alt modes & new powers. eventually BW2nd galvatron gets a meteor like
spaceship & drains all unicrons spark energy into the comet shaped
space ship. a huge fight on the comet space ship happens & the space
ship explodes. some die,some live.
Bwneo's cartoon series takes place directly after the end of BW2ND.
The new good guys are looking for the good guys from bw2nd. same deal
for the baddies. the good & bad guys are looking for unicron's spark
energy that was contained in capsules by the bw2nd crew. both sides in
neo get stock piles of capsules & unicron sends his 4 bw fuzors/
blendtrons to steal the energy back from both sides. the last 4th
quarter episodes are by far the best in the series,think armada's last
4th quater episodes. unicron's energy/soul gets put inside a dead
bw2nd galvatron body & unicron starts his revenge again. unicron tried
to turn cybertron into his body again. both BWNEO factions form a
truce & fight unicron. unicron gets destryed & then his spirit gets
destroyed. both faction at the end clean up & repair cybertron.

Yeah, they're okay; its fun seeing the toys ignored by the North
American show getting some screentime.
I think they're up on BitTorrent. If not, I have digitized copies of
them all and someone could BitTorrent them. (I don't know how to do it.)

How many episodes total? I think I've seen a fansubbed version of the
first 12 or so episodes of BW2 on one of the torrent sites (I'd search
right now, but I don't want to search torrent sites from work) -- I
don't think my Japanese is nearly good enough to watch them without
the english subtitles, unless they were to all just sit around and say
things like:
"Sushi?"
"Sushi!"
"Domo Arrigato, Mr. Roboto"

Seasons two and three, to be precise. Season one was long enough for them
to air it on their own (barely, by Japan's usual season lengths--I envy them),
but because seasons two and three were half the length, they had to wait and
filled the time with BW2 and Neo.
I like what episodes I've seen (subbed and fandubbed by TFCog.com) of BW2,
but Neo didn't impress me as much (and some of the voice choices by TFCog in
Neo feel off to me, not up to the standards of the rest of their voice work,
which is usually rather good for fandubbing). Somehow I didn't get into the
whole academy concept.

All the eps I have are only in Japanese, no subs.
I know some guy was selling VHS fansubs back in the day, but the guy
mistranslated most of the characters' names. (Thrust becomes "Srast", etc.)

shows, inferior to the Mainframe show as they were, gave us a lot more
to enjoy. And the toys... so esoteric. So creative. Ugh! I miss that
era.
I remember, back then, Beast Machines came along to try and offer a
reason why all the TFs turned into beasts now. So close! And yet, all
of a sudden, we were transitioning back to G1ishness (via CR/RiD). And
then AEC... and now 2007 Movie and Animated. Gawd! Now TF is SO all
over the place. Gosh.
Yes, I liked BW. And I miss Don Figueroa. I can't believe his time at
IDW ended up separating him from TF. It's just wrong!!!
His BW art, though I didn't dig the story, was beeeeeeeeyoooteeeful.
