I remember there was a Decepticon named Skywarp (he was an airplane) and in
some of the very early episodes he was shown teleporting (or "warping")
while in flight (i think it was to report something to Megatron). After
that I can't remember them ever using this ability of his.

Does anyone remember any episodes where Skywarp was shown teleporting? I
don't think that they (the writers) really made good use of this ability.
It had a lot of potential but unfortunately i just remember this character
being overshadowed by Starscream.

Uhmm....I remember this, it was in the episode where they were at a
powerstation with Chip Chase, where Prime jumped in front of the computer
before it blew up...dang if I can remember the name of the episode...and they
all go back to Cybertron to find the part that OP needs...Anyway. I don't
remember Skywarp using it, but it was Starscream that did...oddly enough. Am I
hallucinating here, or does anyone else remember that?

I believe that was either "Transport To Oblivion" or "Roll For It", but
it's been a while since I last saw either of those two. I do remember
another instance, though. During "More Than Meets The Eye" when Ironhide
and Bluestreak fire at him, Skywarp asks Megatron for permission to
teleport, which he gets, so he disappears and reappears behind the two
Autobots.

It's actually 'Divide and Conquer', although you'd be forgiven for getting
'Roll for It!' mixed up with it - both titles are so non-descript that it's
darn hard keeping them apart. :)

Anyway, it *was* Skywarp teleporting in the episode - he was just
miscoloured as both Starscream and Thundercracker, if I remember
correctly.

Yep. He proceeds to chase them and finally nails Ironhide in the back,
making him fall down and conveniently land in a pond.

"Save the war stories, hot shot. Remember, there's a thin line between
being a hero and being a memory." :)

Whaaaat? :)

Anyway, Skywarp was indeed shown to teleport in yet another instance.
In 'The Autobot Run', Skywarp is assigned the task of using the transfixer-
tron on the Autobots while they are in the middle of the charity race and,
to perform this task, he teleports into the sky above the raceway, sprays
the Autobots, then teleports out of there again and back to the rest of
the Decepticons. As far as I can remember off-hand, he wasn't seen to
employ this ability outside of the episodes we've discussed here.

actually in another ep, I think, the seekers were filling energon cubes
and stuff and I can remember seeing Thundercracker teleport.. and he
just pops up in front of the other 2 seekers I believe with the
ZZWWRRRTTT teleport sound.. Thundercracker..who should have been
Skywarp of course then fills the cube and.. well it was for a sec or
so.... or was that in the same ep?
hmmm.. confusing.. yup :)

Jasper.. or was it Starscream again who teleported? :)

That's the other episode I was talking about - 'Divide and Conquer'. :)

Nah, I think both the other seekers were miscoloured in different
scenes. The colourists got those three mixed up constantly. :)

haha oops!
then off hand I can't think of more scenes.. MTMTE, Autobot Run, and
Divide and Conquer..
that's... TERRIBLE!! I thought SW teleported much more then that..

yeah! terrible! happens in almost every ep :)
Prime Problem is the worst.. that clone of Starscream is destroyed..
and the ashes are gone with the wind.. and who's watching this all?
Starscream!! and he should have been Skywarp or Thundercracker..
oh well, Prime Problem made no sense at all :)

and another thing for Prime Problem.. if the real Prime was trying to
convince the others from being the real deal.. why did he
call 'TrailBLAZER' ? who's that? heh..

Jasper... weird!!

Any theories as to how this teleporting works ? He can obviously
teleport things with him (transfixertron).

Maybe not to confuse the kids. The writers probably wanted to make it
extra clear that Megatron was controlling that Prime.

Without looking back through, I think he only used it once in the
comics.

If I could jump in the conversation, I did have a theory on how Skywarp
teleported. Perhaps, if you accept that Transformers access sub-space
(as to explain where Prime's trailer goes when he transforms) then
perhaps Skywarp can "slide" through sub-space to achieve teleportation.
I imagine that the process would bend time a little so that he
transverses distances in what appears to be a blink of the eye.

We see Skywarp's warping ability being used against Optimus Prime in "Heavy
Metal War." Of course, it is -Megatron- using Skywarp's power, but there
you go.

That was in "More than Meets the Eye, part 2", if I recall.

> After

Skywarp himself used it once more in "Divide and Conquer" (in a very
inconsequential way--he blipped back and forth while inside a factory in order
to creep out some humans), and Megatron stole the power and used it once or
twice in "Heavy Metal War".

And that, I think, was all she wrote for Skywarp's teleportation ability. If
anybody knows of other instances, please share.

Pity, too. It had such neat potential.

(Other supposedly 'character-defining' G1 super-powers that were in effect
"one-hit wonders" include Soundwave's telepathy--used only twice, to the best
of my knowledge; Reflector's blinding flash--once in person, once by proxy; Red
Alert's danger-detecting sixth sense, employed successfully only once; and
Windcharger's electromagnets, again a solo act with no encores. I think.)

Though you could sure count on Trailbreaker to show up out of nowhere whenever
a force-field was needed, and I'll be damned if the Decepticons *ever* figured
out to actually poke the dead-looking images of their enemies in order to work
around Hound's everpresent holograms..... (wouldn't standard radar defeat that
rather easily?)

Nope, I think you guys covered all the bases. Of course, Skywarp had to ask
Megatron *permission* to use that ability, at least in the pilot... makes you
wonder why. Uses too much energy? Makes the other 'Cons feel inferior?
Electronic whine gives Starscream a headache? Creates subspace ruptures? (Not
to be confused with subspace Raptures... yum.)

You're right about everbody 'cept Windcharger. He used his magnetic ability
once to pull Bumblebee out of a fissure in "The Ultimate Doom," and again to
hold together the faux Menasor in "Masquerade."

Of course, there are lots of neat abilities that the characters supposedly had
that were *never* used in the show, but it would have been neat to see... like
Springer's alleged pogo power, Huffer's arm sensors, Dirge's fear-inducing
engines...

Zobovor... heck, I would have liked to see Blitzwing get stuck in

In that case, I'll repost part of my first reply to this thread:

"Anyway, Skywarp was indeed shown to teleport in yet another instance.

Well, where Red Alert is concerned, his sixth sense was never again
used as obviously as in 'Auto Berserk', but he also apparently used
them in 'Blaster Blues'. He and Inferno are putting out a fire and, when
it's nearly extinguished, Inferno yells, "You can spare the rest of the trees,
Red Alert! This fire's all-but out!", to which Red replies, "That's not
what my sensors say!" Immediately after, various Decepticon jets
attack them. That's at least an indication. :)

As for Windcharger, he used a magnetic ray to pull up Bumblebee
from an earthquake-induced crack in the ground in the second part
of 'The Ultimate Doom' and to keep together the fake Menasor of
which he was part in 'Masquerade'.

The last two were used (or at least mentioned, in Huffer's case) in the
comics.

There was a lack of some of the little details. How many times did
Grimlock *really* argue with Prime concerning strategy. Did Eject use a lot
of sports terms? Rumble using piledrivers instead of an internal device. And
for that matter Frenzy has the same powers as Rumble, rather than his own
powers. The comics were more careful about things like that. Another point
for Budiansky, since I believe he edited the stories prior to taking over as
writer.

Well, given that he never appeared in the comics outside his TFU profile and
there's only one line of dialogue in the entire cartoon series that could
*possibly* be attributed to him, I would say... nope. :)

Maybe Prime had his translatuion circuits set on Japanese, and
he switched the r and the l in breaker, and since bleaker makes no sense
he compenstaited by saying blazer. mmmyep, I bet thats it.
