It says they're possibly "executive producers" for the new series.
It still doesn't bode well though. Anyone who's got a job knows how
stupid "the money" can be, while also being terribly influential.
I almost suspect it'll be a spinoff to the Movieverse.

going to be in the movie verse.
guys it might not be a bad cartoon series. they'll be a few missing
factors the movies had. like no micheal bay as the director. perhaps a
new human cast which means no shia/sam & mikeala/megan fox. maybe
it'll be a bit more darker,more grown up & less kiddie like the second
movie was. perhaps they'll be more character developement becauser
they'll be like 52+episodes to explore characters personas. perhaps
they'll be a more TF themed cartoon & more TF themed plot that
actually matters & makes sense.

Given the amount of speculation and hype which goes into such things, and
the number of changes which tend to get made before production, I find
it's simpler all around to wait for the end of the first season of a new
show to get a good idea for how it's going. It gives time for all the "I
hate it because it's NEW!" hooplah to die down amongst the fandom.
Come on, people were trashing _Animated_ before it hit the airwaves, and
it took a couple of episodes before everyone to calm down and the show to
hit its stride. Now, about 90% of the online fandom reckons it's good to
excellent.
Sure, TFP might be crud. But it might be good. It might even be good
despite being made up of cruddy components. Hey, it happens.

I prefer to prejudge. Kurtzman and Orci haven't done anything that
I've liked. They're writers who write bad things, and I see no reason
to expect better from them.

You guys need to go watch Fringe some time. It's a shining example of
a TV series that showcases Kurtzman's and Orci's writing ability
without Michael Bay there inserting gratuitous testicle gags. They're
very clever, irreverant writers and I'm very disappointed that they
won't be contributing to Transformers 3.

I'm with Zob (although I've not watched Fringe). Kurtzman and Orci
have always struck me as decent (not genius, but certainly talented)
writers who work well together, and I'd be more than happy to have
them writing the whole damn series rather than merely serving as
executive producers.
I'm more disappointed that it's going to be CG. Ah, well. I got over
that for Beast Wars.

Having seen and liked "Star Trek" this summer, I'm willing to suggest
that the awfulness of the TF movies is more due to Bay than to
Kurtzman and Orci. I'm willing to give them a shot at TFs without Bay
mucking things up.

They also wrote Mission Impossible 3, didn't they? That wasn't a very
good movie either (in my opinion).

My main problem with MI-3 was that the whole bomb-in-the-agent-being
stopped-by-stopping-their-heart thing made no sense. Once they came
around, the bomb was inert--but nobody really explained how or why and I
found that annoying (this could have even been some oversight of the
director. Maybe Abrams felt it wasn't exciting enough if he had to stop
and make sense of it?)

True. It could be a movie cartoon with their involvement limited to
"creative consultant". Or they could be show running the whole thing--we
really don't know yet.
