What is supposed to be going on with Devastator. It looks like he is holding
Megatron or something. I don't understand at all. Anybody figure it out.
Thanks.

I think he's holding one of the Arialbots, so without Superion to fight him,
he will be undefeatable?
It does seem, in this strange universe DW has created, that the
Protectobots don't exist (let alone any TFs created after year 3).
I'm afraid that, if DW ever does another G1 series with Sarrachini
(sp?) as the writer, I'm going to have to break my record of getting
all TF comics ever made... He just can't cut it.
Anyone want to start a discussion on who's worse: Budianski or
Sarrachini? (maybe not a good idea....)
My two cents,
G.B. Blackrock
He is. It may seem weird because the individual Aerialbot is so much
smaller than he would've been as part of Superion, but that *is*
consistent with the cartoon. Remember Starscream standing on Bruticus's
shoulder in "Starscream's Brigade"? The gestalts, for whatever reason,
are much bigger than their individual components. (Heh. Another reason
to use that term...)
> so without Superion to fight him, he will be undefeatable?
I originally thought that that was the cause of the "Oh," "My," "God,"
and everyone standing around with their mouths open. But it seemed
really anticlimactic, since Dev had been rampaging through the city for
half an issue already, and the prospect of further rampaging wouldn't be
that surprising. Moreover, the shocked humans had just gotten through
berating Prime after he saved their lives, so it's clear that they don't
understand the difference between 'Bot and 'Con. So why would they care
if Dev had happened to defeat Superion? Hell, that just means one less
giant to knock over buildings.
But someone's review in another thread mentioned the possibility that
Dev was just as stunned as everyone else, and there's some new character
or thing coming into view. Considering how big they've been drawing
him, I'm going to guess Omega Supreme. :)

As someone pointed out, it may be the "subspace" thing once again that
allows the gestaults to grow in size when in their combined mode. And think
about it, at least in Devestator's case, where do the upper arms and fist
come from if the Bonecrusher is seamingly just in bulldozer mode? Where
does the chestpiece come from? Gotta be subspace. Same deal with the
shrinking abilities of Soundwave, the cassettes, Megatron, etc.

Ah yes, I forgot about Omega (if he even exists in this strange continuity).
That would be cool, but shouldn't he be about the same size as Devastator?
And if so, where has he been for the rest of this series? He wasn't revived
by Prime in issue 2. Did he sorta "wake up" on his own? If he had been
revived by Lazarus, we would have probably already seen him in action.
My guess is that it isn't an Autobot, since the preview blurb about issue 5
says Prime is "left for dead" and the world is "on the brink of collapse".
It also says that the other Autobots are "battered and beaten". So it
sounds like the 'bots get their asses kicked by the 'cons.
Although the ending of this issue *is* strange in comparison to the others,
I really like the issue as a whole a lot better than the other ones. A lot
more action and we get to see some Transformer personality peek out. AND,
we get the "transformation sound" as Grimlock transforms.
My big question is... where are the season 2 TF's besides the 2 gestalts?
It's an Aerialbot
I was wondering why everyone looked so stunned.
You'd think they'd never seen a collosal green robot trashing a city before.

My guess is that it is the virus coming over the horizon. That's my $0.02.

Considering that he IS a rocket, it seems weird that he would've been in
the Ark II with everyone else. I would guess he was already on Cybertron,
so he's been safe and sound this whole time, and if he's reappearing, then
it's as a reinforcement for Prime & co.

I was bored by the action, I thought there was very little personality due
to the extremely sparse dialogue (and what IS there doesn't always feel
right - the 'toon Trailbreaker always seemed too low-key and cheerful to
be as vengeful as his one line sounded), plus when it comes to the classic
G1 'toon transformation sound, I can take it or leave it.
