There is an event going on in Singapore and pics are surfacing of the upcoming Titan class Tidal Wave. It looks like they went with the Micron Densetsu colors so it's purple where the Armada one was olive green among other differences.

I don't see a minicon and I don't see a lot of minicon ports. It is not directly compatible with the recent Armada Megatron but it comes with separate smaller dress up parts to make your Armada Megatron look like it's wearing Tidal Wave armor.

I'm a little disappointed that he has a third of another Tidal Wave in his back but it doesn't seem like you can make a whole miniature Tidal Wave. You could use the whole original Tidal Wave to make Burning Megatron in Armada, but it seems to only need a third of Tidal Wave in Legacy. Does a portion of himself count as a Minicon?

A lot of people have been saying they wanted this toy for a really long time. So, I'm glad they're finally doing it for those who want it. And, it saves me money because I don't have to buy a Titan-class toy next year!

Zob (more money for Super7 Ninja Turtles, I guess!)

Normally I would give zero craps about any Armada homage toys, just like I didn't care about most of the line when it first came out. But man that Tidal Wave design really got me from day one. It's like a poor man's Macross. I've always wanted an SDF-1 spaceship but I could never afford one of those super nice deluxe ones the Japanese toy companies would come out with. Then came Tidal Wave and it really scratched that itch for me. Plus since it was a Hasbro toy it was relatively cheap and could actually be played with and touched unlike the super breaky and expensive SDF-1 toys from Yamato or model kits from Hasegawa which are just meant to be display pieces. Then Tidal Wave's appearance in the PS2 game was just epic and fun. So that robot has always been my non-G1 soft spot and reminder to myself that I am a big baby man and not a serious robot appreciator like ultra high end Japanese toy collectors.

I kind of liked the old toy. I had the Takara version in the correct
colors.
They have at least one recolor out of this mold, the Energon color
scheme. And I guess they could do the puke-green Hasbro color scheme if
they really wanted to, but few would buy it.

I guess it depends on whether you're more nostalgic about the Armada toy line, or about the cartoon. I'm more familiar with the green version, just because that's what the toy looked like, and I bailed on watching the show after I got about halfway through.

The Energon redeco toys were really what broke me of being a completist collector. I just didn't see the sense in owning the exact same Armada toys over again in different colors.

Zob (my Armada toys are finally old enough to be considered vintage!)
