ATT-ers,

If you had to choose to purchase one over the other, which would you choose? Sky Lynx is around $90 online right now, Jetfire $100, so comparable in price. Both Commander class. Which one would you recommend getting?

Hmm, tricky. They're both excellent representations of the character. I think Jetfire does a little bit more—he's got lots of fun gimmicks and features (some of them undocumented) and I think you get more bank for your buck with him. I don't dislike Sky Lynx at all, but he doesn't have quite as much play value.

Thanks Zob! I've been wrestling with this one, mostly for space reasons. I keep nothing on display, except a few deskbots on rotation. From that standpoint, it sounds like Jetfire's a winner. I have more of an emotional tie with Sky Lynx, considering how large his role was on the show, but it feels a bit like purchasing him is a bit like checking a box for completionism's sake.

Update!

I ended up buying this Voyager-sized Jetfire (https://www.tfsafari.com/products/incoming-4th-party-tnt-01-tnt01-ko-if-ex30-cyguns-skyfire-jetfire-oversized-version-18cm?_pos=4&_sid=d8cc24c9d&_ss=r), just because he stands eye to eye with Siege Starscream, and I have to say, it's amazing. Not a replacement for Siege Jetfire, of course, but a great addition to the Jetfire shelf.

I got Sky Lynx instead as my choice of Commanders, and I have to say, he is incredibly basic, but in the best possible way. The transformation isn't needlessly finicky; all modes are straightforward, and he's actually enjoyable to transform. Looks like he stepped straight off the screen; plus the base mode actually looks good, rather than the robot mode doing splits afterthought that is sadly endemic, especially in Titan class.

The only nitpick I have is that the wings don't really lock into place all too well in shuttle mode (unless it's just me).

Well done, John Hasbro. Well done.

They could have decided to overcomplicate his transformation for its own sake, but I like the straightforward approach they took with him. And I love the improved leg articulation and all the spots to mount blast effects and such. He's a delight.

On a moonlit night?

The older I get the less I care for over engineered transformations. Sometimes less is more.
