Right now when you order the Devastator Showdown track set, Hasbro is
offering six of the RPM vehicles free. You can choose from two free
sets—one comes with Mixmaster, Bumblebee (2010 Concept), Ironhide,
Optimus Prime, Long Haul, and Jolt; the other set of cars you can pick
includes Sideways, Bumblebee (2008 Concept), Barricade, Sideswipe,
Ratchet (regular colors) and Megatron.

They make it sound like you spend $39.99 and get $24 worth of cars for
free, but there's also a $12 shipping charge so it's not as phenomenal
of a deal as it first sounds. I thought it was worth mentioning,
though, since this is the first time I've seen Mixmaster and Jolt and
Sideswipe available for sale in this format.

Hasbro's been doing lots of little promotions and things for the RPM
toys—this is the third separate one I've seen since the toys were
released this past summer—which leads me to wonder if they're just not
selling as they'd hoped. Of course, I can hardly blame consumers for
their lack of interest—at four dollars, the toys cost the same as a
Spychanger only they don't actually transform. I almost wonder if the
faux robot modes sculpted into the undercarriage hurt the presentation
more than anything else. A more dedicated approach, like attempting
to present the toys as a collector-oriented line instead of marketing
them to young kids, might have been a better marketing ploy.

I've already got a handful of extras that my two-year-old doesn't even
play with, so I have no desire to acquire more just for the sake of
getting a deal. Is anybody else still actively collecting these?
(It's hard to stay interested in them when it's been so long since any
new product has come out.)

The one RPM Prime I bought in Venice (the italian one) this year is
still enough for me.
Never did get the fell for those little things.

I really wouldn't be surprised if massive stocks are returning to
Hasbro unsold.

I don't think they're selling terribly well over this end of the world
either. I'm certainly not interested in any of them bar Jetfire, and
that's only because I collect Jetfires.

To quote my girlfriend on the matter.. "Is there even 12 different
toys..."

She has a point, even those little TF skateboards sell better. I for
one, look forward to the RPM clearance sales. That would pretty much
be the same way I ended up with so many Animorphs. To think about it,
I wanna get into Gormiti toys and my local Walmart has some on
clearance...

Yeah, think I would take the Gormiti toys over RPMs. And to think, I
kinda wanted TF car toys.
