origins, and why do they exist

I was awunderin, why do Transformers exist, specifically, beast wars. I love
the animation, I can watch it with the sound turned off, but why.
What was the point of having "beast" like robots?? Why are they fighting each
other? As they do not reproduce and I assume were made to help HUMANS, what is
the point. Especially as the world they inhabit seems to be Unihabited.
Although this week I viewed an eppisode WITH plant life!!
So please send me a clue, so I don't have to forbit my kids from watching it.

The back story for BW is slightly complicated. Beleive it
or not this is the short version :-)
Beast Wars is actually a sequel of sorts to the popular
'80's cartoon called Transformers. In that cartoon, the Evil
Decepticons were alien robots from another planet (their
actual origin is kind of complicated and not really important
here) that were marroned on Earth along with their
enemies the Heroic Autobots. They disguised themselves
by their ability to transform into cars, planes, and other
machines. The Decepticons wanted to conquer Earth and
then the Universe, the Autobots to protect all life. Eventually,
with the help of Humans, the Autobots won this "Great War".
Beast Wars picks up 300 years after that show ended. The planet
Cybertron (where the two factions were from) is now
at peace. The Autobots have become "Maximals" and
the Decepticons became "Predacons." A Predacon criminal
calling himself Megatron (after a charecter from the first show)
stole an artifact that gave the location of Earth. He set out
to go there and start "The Great War" again.
A crew of Maximals tried to stop him and due to the
space/time warping nature of their ships engines the batlle knocked them
through time to crash on PREHISTORIC
Earth.
They quickly found that other mysterious Aliens had been messing w/ the
planet and had seeded it w/ so much
energy that it would overload their robot bodies. They quickly
altered themselves to transform into replicas of local
lifeforms in order to sheild themselves from this, hence the
Beast Modes.
Megatron wants to use this energy to conquer the
Universe, or failing that, to alter Earth's past and stop the
Decepticons from lossing in the old show. The Maximals
simply want to stop him and go home.

Yeah, they could watch Teletubbies. :)
Transformers still exist, because of the lasting appeal they had and impact
upon us as children. Most of us are in our early to mid twenties who were
around
to watch them in the '80s and we're not nearly as odd as 'Trekkies' or
'Trekkers'.
They're like Dinosaurs, they'll never truly be extinct because we keep them
alive
in our own imaginations. Unlike other series, they gave you something truly
unbelievable to imagine...
This is kind of an interesting topic for a conversation. :) Why do they
exist...

Thanks to everone who dropped me a line or two(thousand), I appreciated evey
one. I never liked transformers(too old I guess), so I never knew the
connection between the two series. I love the animation of the new series,
which is why I could turn on the tv and drop the sound to off. Kinda like,
animated wall paper. I won't let my 3 year old watch it, but it seems ok for
the older one. Now as for Pokemon.....ggrrr..
and finally , the 3 year old LOVES the Tubbies as does the older sib. And I do
have a copy of "The Day Of The Barney" for those who like black humor/horror.
If you liked "Chuckie", you will probably like barney...heh...hehe..

You forgot, after the First Transformers went off the air they made something
like a Second transformers ((Pure crap in my opinion)) it wass where the First
one left off. The Decepticons were defeated, Cybertron was peaceful again and
Earth were allies with them. Buzz was an adult with a wife and kid, but the
Decpticons made a come back ((I can't rmember the leaders name)) But he started
another great war. Then entire show was based around the great war, it was in
this series we found out about Omacron, the great Transformer god, and Also
towards the end of the series Optomus Prime was found in a ship drifting
towards the sun. He came back and helped fight the great war.
After the Great war, I'm guessing a new form of Autobots and Decpticons
evolved. Maximals and Predicons, because in Beast Wars. on several occasions
they haved said "I'll take this ship back to Cybertron and conquer it AND the
Autobots"
So obviously the Autobots must be these Elderly robots, and Decpticons are like
old relics who were either "scrapped" or rebuilt.

first of all, that was season 3 of the g1 series, his name was spike, and the
decppetion was megatron turned into galvatron. plus, he didnt re-start the
great war, it was still going on. the name of the bots leaders was optimus
prime, and the autobots put his dead body on the ship, humans resqued him and a
qunitison revived him. as for bw, they didnt evolve, they minimzed to save
energon. yes they mentioned retuning to cybertron, but nothing about defeating
the bots.

creatures that were formerly much like humanity, for the purpose of being an
unlimited supply of slave labor. The quintessons used a mysterious computer,
captured after devastating a planet called Primus, and used this computer's
extraordinary power to construct Cybertron, a metal planetoid, slightly
smaller than the Earth's moon, that was basically a gigantic factory for
building these giant metal robots. At first, they weren't capable of
sentient thought, serving merely as mindless soldiers and servants, mining
where the work was too dangerous for organic life, and warring against the
Quintesson's enemies, whose military prowess dwindles quickly against the
overwhelming power of the Cybertronians.
The domestic brands, called Alpha models, stayed mainly on Cybertron,
while the war brand, called Deltas, were constantly moved from planetary
system to planetary system, usurping any resistance and building a huge
empire for the Quintessons. Then, Vector Sigma (the supercomputer mentioned
earlier) miraculously became self aware. This was a function of the computer
that the Quintessons were not aware of. Vector Sigma instantaneously gave
sentience to all Cybertronians. This sentience brought about rebellion, the
Cybertronians revolting and ousting their Quintesson slavers.
Thus began the Golden Age of Cybertron, much like a renaissance,
helping the gigantic robots with the gift of sentience to create a society.
However, instilled societal roles forced Deltas to crave power, using their
might to control the former Quintesson Empire. The Alphas wished to
peacefully co-exist with these worlds. This caused the outbreak of the
second Cybertronian war. This devastated Cybertron. The remnants of the
Alphas and the Deltas became known as Autobots and Decepticons. They
drifted apart, and many of the Autobots and Decepticons were retrofitted to
be capable of transforming into more efficient forms. Among the Autobots,
domestic vehicles and defensive forms were popular, where as weapons and
military vehicles became the norm among the Decepticons.
The Third Cybertronian war broke out when a Decepticon named Megatron
reunited long-since separated Decepticon factions and promised victory over
the Autobots and the re-building of the Decepticon empire. By this time,
memory of the Quintessons was fairly scarce, and vague at best.
If you want to know more, please don't hesitate to ask. I subscribe to
the Japanese plot, not the comic book plot. I would love to explain anything
you need to know.
