The 1930s! However, the cover with Wheeljack is misleading as he
doesn't show up in this issue.

Roadblock, Beach Head, the Baroness, and a generic-cobra named Percy
end up in 30's Chicago. Beach Head and Baroness argue about the
merits of sneaking over rooftops (BH) vs disguise (Baroness) while
Percy freaks out. Beach Head wins...and beats up some gangsters to
get info. The gangsters have taken control of the 6 TFs that are
trapped in vehicle modes in this time. One, Optimus Prime, is in
truck mode. The others are in a garage under the leader's club.

Baroness and Roadblock infiltrate the club in disguise. Roadblock can
play jazz :) But only four vehicles are under the club. The fifth, a
truck, is filled with dynamite for a bank job. And one is free of his
transformation locks, and grabs locks from the Joes to free his
friends--it's Breakdown, and his friends are the Stunticons!

The Joes and Cobras peel out in Prime with a crazed horde of
Stunticons in pursuit! Prime tries to catch the final TF before the
Stunticons get them in a magnificent gangster-movie chase. When
things are at their darkest, the Baroness shoots at the dynamite
truck! After the explosion, she slaps a transformation unlock on a
somewhat-headachy but mostly unharmed Motormaster with the line
"Please...I've seen them take sidewinder missiles at point black...a
little dynamite's going to hurt them?" (*L*!)

So the mission for this group is over, while on Cybertron, Ultra
Magnus tries to maintain the force field protecting the Autobots and
humans from Shockwave's legions, and in a faraway ravaged land, Tomax,
Xamot, Dr Mindbender, Barbecue and Spirit Iron Knife look over the
ruins of skyscrapers as giant city-sized robots roam the horizons....

***

I can tell the writers are having a great time putting all kinds of
in-jokes in this story, particularly Percy! the guy's a riot.
Entertainment at its...most entertaining. ;)
