Just got one fo the repro Marx Nobel Knights...

Nice figure, accurate reproduction, armor seems frail, and bad flash
problems, though that could be becuase of the original molds...

and REAL oddness.. found a original 35 year ol Knight sans armor at a
thrift shop the following day, for $3.....

I'm sorry, but why is that odd?

Well, since I've never even seen a Noble Knight on sale anywhere, even in a
toy show, and then the day after I buy a repro for the GF, I just happen to
find an original figure from 35 years ago, in any state, just seems to me to
be a really odd/funny coincidence.

Maybe that's commonplace for you though.. ;)

I dunno... I don't want to piss on your sense of awe and wonderment, but you
might just be more "tuned" to it now and therefore more prone to notice it.
:^) The flashy (and rare) thing with the Knights was the armor, since the
"bare" figure seems kind of non-descript. But hey-- I like odd, so maybe that
figure finally intersected with your life after years & years of you just
missing it by *seconds*????

It could happen y'know?

I'm sure it could, but I'd seen web pics years ago on them, and have been
sorta kinda looking when I go to shows n such. I've seen all sorts of old
goodies, like the LIS chariot battery powered thing, and even the old major
Matt mason stuff, but this was the first noble knight I had seen other then
in pictures, and on the web of course.

Only real disappointment in the Knight repro though., is the armor does seem
VERY fragile. I think putting it on, and removing it more then twice would
probably tear all the links apart.

I remember Resaurus was talking of a 2000 version of some things along these
lines.. such would be nice, in that sea of WWI, WWII, and other similar Joe
fodder. That stuff is all sorta looking the same to me now, and some
gladiators,Romans, Knights, Vikings n such would be a breathe of fresh air!

Wonder if there's talk of re-releasing the Noble Knights horse??

I'd oogled the knights for years at almost every collector expo I went
to (maybe it was the same one, over & over???), but never bought because
of the price; The other Marx stuff just wasn't as flashy so I never gave
it a second look. It didn't have any nostalgic resonance for me. It was
only when I started working on my medieval custom figs that I finally
snapped and resorted to buying the whole shebang w/armored horse from a
vintage collectibles shop. To hear that the rerelease stuff is fragile
relieves some of the pain of my pocketbook bruising, but my vintage
knight isn't in pristine condition and I don't believe that it would
stand up to much handling either. But it's great that KB rereleased
this stuff because Resaurus got our hopes about theirs over a year ago,
then...nada. Pfffffft!!! Cotswold's knights are kewl, but they're
pricey and don't quite fit in with the lower-brow plastic stuff on my
shelves.

Marx *is* going to release the non-articulated horses (& viking & cowboy
stuff)-- at least, according to what I saw in a vendor's ordering
catalog. Unfortunately, I don't know if they're going to do the horse's
armor too.

Hmm.. wouldn't make much sense to do the horse without his armor, but that's
GREAT news! Now if Resaurus would get off thier dead @$$e$....

I wonder if they'll be re-releasing their spy figure? (Anyone
remember what it was called?) I had one of those as a kid and it was
my favorite toy for a long time, the leader of my Joe pack for some
reason. Mine was missing two of the accessories, the cap "exploding"
bag, and the cap booby-trap briefcase. I wrote a letter to Marx. My
parents were very skeptical, but I got a box in the mail some time
later with replacements. I think they were impressed. Maybe I
wouldn't be a writer today without that little lesson in the power of
words. <G>

As someone else said, "Mike Hazard."

I still have mine with all the accessories. It is still one of my
favorite figures (although I have to keep him put away since my son
really likes him too -- and I'd hate to lose him in a 'war' with the
Joes).
Can't recall another figure that offers a latex mask and other
disguises (glasses, glasses & beard, latex wig, etc.) that _really_
work!

Hopefully, Marx won't leave him out of their re-release (and will 'do
him justice').

Thanks Garrrrrreeeeee for the update. <g>

My Pleasure! There's not alot of stuff I can contribute here, since I'm not
that into the military stuff, but at least I can pass along what do find
out. BTW KB online has those 12" scale Misfits figures for $9.99.. (I passed
on them).. Also today stumbled across a cheap barbie ripoff that had one
unique feature.. she came with two wigs! One long blonde, and one poofy
reddish brown! Might be good custom fodder for someone. She was $3.95, and
the figures lines goes by "Model of the year" The blonde wig has a tad too
much plastic for my tastes, but I think can be whittled down some.. the
brown fig is poofy enough to cover the plastic. They also sorta fit the 9"
Famous Covers figies as well...

Remembering a couple of the reasons I liked Mike. <g>

First, the hands. They were realistic sculpts (and remember what
vintage Joe hands looked like), flexible rubber (made it easier for
him to hold things), and I THINK he was molded with a separate trigger
finger. Could be wrong on that.

The head sculpt was also a lot better than Joe's

Loved that coat-of-many pockets. Joe could wear it too.

I could dress him up as the Green Hornet. See, I was a big Hornet
fan, and though I did have Captain Action, I never got the Hornet
costume for him. The only one I had was Batman.

So my Hornet outfit consisted of the radio hat from Mike Hazzard, the
coat, the mask from the Batman CA outfit, the handle part of the
snooper scope (minus the headphones and sound reflector) as his "sonic
sting" (my favorite Hornet weapon), and either one of Mike's pistols,
or maybe a Joe service automatic as his "gas gun."

Actually, thinking about it, I don't remember who I put this outfit
on. Might have been mike, or CA, or one of my Joes. Just not sure.

Flexible _with_ a fair amount of movement. As for the finger -- I'm
not going to check, but if he doesn't have one, it could easily be
cut.

>The head sculpt was also a lot better than Joe's

It wasn't painted better. Had a more goofy look... However, with the
disquises, who cares!! :)

>Loved that coat-of-many pockets. Joe could wear it too.

Ah, yes. Even has little slits in the edges for knives (IIRC). Oh,
and speaking of knives, seems like his rubber tie has a small 'catch'
on the back side for a dagger (or am I thinking of another
accessory...?).

Have a Capt. Action w/ Capt. America suit. After Action became rather
immobile (read: BROKEN), I slit his boots & used his costume on Joe.

I used Hazard's disguises (mainly latex mask/wig) on Joes, but that's
about it.

Many memories here... <sigh> :)

Just went and checked my little box of vintage Joe stuff. I still
have that mask. It may be the only part of Mike I still have left (I
seem to recall seeing the head somewhere in my folks house, but if I
brought it home, I can't find it.) It fits my Vintage Action Marine
pretty well. I have him in his "retirement civvies (secret identity
shirt, jeans, shoes and black, leather jacket from a 12" Ghost Rider,
10" Disguise Thing hat, Korean Air Force Joe sunglasses, and now the
mask. At last, he looks his age. <G>
