I dont post alot anywhere, but do like to read the forums....

Im glad the Sandbox is still around, it brings me back to the time
when i first started to collect as a adult, and when i first got a
computer in 1998? i think....

I remember " Searching " the Term GIJOE , and shocked to find
people like myself who were interested/crazed over Joes......

Those were the days of Snail Mailing Trade lists, Scouring Toyshop,
Looking at the Big Red Toy Box on-line.......

So , i say Hello to anyone who was around back then who may
remember me...

Hi JoeZeta (and both of the other people who still check in here);
Yep, the 'Box was THE place to be, back in the day! I started around
Sept 97 when we got our first Internet Service Provider (actually a
few months before that, because I'd hit the Box from work during
breaks, lunch, etc). Man, that sure was the Old Days! Fun times,
though. I remember that "bulk buy" of a whole PALLET of ME joes I
picked up at Sam's Club (around xmas of 97). I sold them at cost to
Sandboxers (I forget how much, but dirt cheap). I lost my shirt on
shipping costs, because the $ coming in always fell short of the cost
to pack and ship. Oh well. It was for the good of the hobby and
helped out fellow Collectors, so I was fine with it. I even made
military "assignment orders" for each outgoing Joe. Cotswold was king
(and it seems they are AGAIN). We used to give each other stuff all
the time -- I sent off a new in box Schwimmwagen to a fellow Sandobxer
(don't even recall who) that I picked at random. Occasionally I'd get
oddball stuff in the mail without warning. Those were fun times! Now
it's hard to check in here, with ISPs not supporting newsgroups --
using google is much more difficult than the old days using Free
Agent. I think that's why the website-based Trenches is beating out
the Sandbox these days... it's easier to use. My website covers quite
a span of time; check it out: www.gijoe.50megs.com (click on the
flashing ball in each category to visit each successive page). My
site was a cobweb for a few years, but now it's back online. Nice
trip down memory lane... Cheers!
- ATC (known as "Opie" back in the heyday of the Sandbox)

Joezeta,

I remember you from the old days. I'll second what ATC (Opie to us old timers) said about difficulty of finding newsgroup providers anymore and how it isn't the same using google.

Anyway, I'm still a collector (though I've not added much in several months) but I do have a "Joe Room" or at least a "Joe Side of the Garage".

A lot of us are over at the Facebook Sandbox. If you're on FB, stop on by. It's a lot like this place used to be in the 90s............................................DUG
