I just picked up a talking muscle body Joe for cheap, which wasn't working.
After some work I got him to speak pretty well, and he's French (I expected
as much as I got it from Canada). I can understand some of what he's saying
but not sure he's speaking all phrases. Does anyone know what the French
speaking Canadian talking commander would have said? I've looked around and
can't seem to find any info on this guy.

Lesseee.....a French-Canadian talker would say:

"Poutine anyone?"
"We want seperation!!"
"Vive le Rene Levesque"
" No signs in Anglais."
"Toronto?? Mais NON!!"
"Surrender?? You want those OTHER French guys..."
"We are not French, we are QUEBEC!"
"Trudeau was a sell-out.........but he was stylish."

Hope that helps. :-P

Don't forget the casual french canadian swear.

Being french-canadian myself I know we wouldn't say Le René Levesque, just
René Levesque :)

As for what that figure used to say, I really have no ideas.

Maybe something like:

"Les gars, on a une mission dangereuse!"
"Y a ce maudit pigmé qui fait des siennes!"

Speaking of Monty Python, I found out an interesting little
tidbit......Anthony Orton, the sound effects man for Life of Brian works
right under my nose. He is the head audio visual guy for NASA and
Marshall.....

My hat is off to him- sound was such a great gag in LoB; the excessive
clanking of the Romans, and the great engine noises when the spacecraft were
racing into orbit and fighting...

Now that is cool. Must be a heck of a story about how he made the
journey from doing movie sound in the UK to working for NASA.

Just think, he can say he worked with the Pythons and Astronauts. I want
to do that when I grow up! :-)

I`d guess that less than one in ten Canadian talkers would speak
French...you got lucky!

French Canadian does not equal France. In fact, a large percentage of
the original French settlers came to North America as professional soldiers.

Maybe you`ve never heard of the Van doos?

Yes they are kind of like the Foreign Legion but Canadian. Anyway, Merk old
man, I was not bashing the Canadians as much as I was the French side of
it.....if you read the last one I kinda' made a joke about the French trying
to be Canadian "Mon Ami's When you ser-renderrr Tell the AYmereecans you are
French Canadian!! ....Besides some of my favorite people are
Canadians....YOU!! Ken!!!

I would never make fun of the Canadians........OK maybe that tiny itty bitty
little town that has been harboring all of our run away soldiers.....

Hmmm...Nothing really like the Legion...

Yeah, like I said...."French Canadian doesn`t equal France". A
disproportionate number of the Canadian military (such as it is ;)) is
French Canadian. They`ve always pulled more than their weight in that
regard, and bashing `em for it ain`t cool.

Feel free to bash the size of our military, I`m with ya`... :)

OK, someone explain just what the hell is a "Jammy Bastard"?
Someone calls Brian that after he staggers out of the spaceship wreckage.

And that's how the Closed Captioning spells it on my Laserdisc copy.....

OK let me clear the air here OK Merk? Sean said he is French....then in
parenthesis he says he got it in Canada. I was going on the basis that the
Joe was "FRENCH" as in from France. And as you said 1 in 10 speaks FRENCH.
It was at that point that I thought that maybe it was a Joe that actually
was from FRANCE!

OH well.....some Canadian just can't get jokes unless there is an "eh" or
Toborg in it........eh!
I'm joking.....get it son?

Yeah, that`s probably it Dave. If you`d have slipped "Torborg"
(WTF?)into your post, I`m sure I`d have seen the humour... ;)

Sean,

I found this link regarding AT talkers:

http://www.adventure-gear.com/atclassic/atfaq.htm

It states that all Muscle Body Talkers said the same thing....maybe
your guy is just saying these phrases in French? If you can make out
some of what he says, post it here in the "Box--I took three years of
French, and still remember a fair amount of it. Don't worry about not
knowing how to spell the words...just write them out phonetically so
that the spelling recreates the sound as closely as possible, and I'll
see if I can help you figure it out!

Ahhh...Tuborg Gold, the Danish Beer. While available, certainly not a
popular choice around here. Brador..again not particularly popular, but
seems to famous in the U.S. for it`s high alcohol content. Mostly
consumed by 16 y.o. males trying to "prove" themselves. Yeah...you do
need some Dave. ;)

Thanks for the link. I know he is saying some of the US AT sayings because I
have a US muscle body talker too, and can compare what's said (my high
school French is finally paying off). But I wondered how many sayings the
Canadian muscle body guys actually spoke (I think I'm counting 4 or 5 on
mine), if they matched saying for saying what their US counterparts said.

But it didn't work.
