However, my next step is to try to recreate a 1:6 studio for those days when
it's too cold to shoot action outside. I've already cobbled together gold
and silver reflectors from the seals from coffee jars and have seen a tripod
on eBay and I have some ideas for aluminium equipment cases.
What I really need (and need suggestions for) are:
Medium format 6x6 or 6x4.5 cameras (I know the Astronaut Hasselblad would do
in an emergency, but it's not very detailed).
Flash units, umbrellas, snoots, barn doors and lighting stands.
And here comes the embarrassing bit . . .
On the eve of my 50th birthday I find myself having to ask other mature
predominantly male adults which of the various 1:6 female figures available
is the hottest? :-) My photographer will want to do some tasteful glamour
work, so I'm looking for voluptuousness without being as enhanced as, say,
Pamela Anderson or Dolly Parton.
Any suggestions for figures would be most welcome. Somehow I don't think my
Hasbro helo pilots or BBi fighter pilot really fits the bill.
I wish now I had bought a Mike Cherry figure when I had the chance.
Help me out here guys. I feel like I'm in a hole and can't stop digging!
Garry
Cy Girls made a figure that I believe they called "Ice" if I remember
correctly. She has to be one of the best looking female figures ever.

Just found one MIB for $199.99 on eBay.
For that kind of money I could hire the real thing :-)
Garry:
do either a google search or a search on ebay for "CY Girls".
These are the pretty, action figure dolls that you are looking for.
They
include the more expensive Ice and Amber from many years ago.
There are several others (just as cute) only less expensive. I think
the last one released
may have been named Mystere.

There are some "basic" femme figures out there, with rooted air and
high articulation in just basic "sportware" undies for as little as
$20 US, if you look around at the major online dealers of 1/6.
Years ago, some people did some very scary in the highest level of
details "boudoir photography" shots with various "bendy" types of
Barbie. Yes, Barbie, and some of the were just plain "over the top" in
some of the physical details that were added to the figures. The odd
thing about these types of Barbies, is how well the "bendy" limbs
work, how well they hold up, and how they even create the look of
muscle tone in the thighs and arms, much so when wearing 1/6 scale
stockings and hose or long gloves, which granted is creepy yet proven
to be greatly effective.
I think that one of the most effective of the "bendy" Barbies used was
the "Gymnist Barbie". Unlike many of the highly endowed and highly
articulated Le Femme 1/6 figures out there, there are no or very few
"joint lines" to ruin the look of bare limbs ( or other bits ), and
the texture of the compound used to make the various parts are very
"skin like" and add some of the "muscle effect" when bent or moved.
Not much love out there for "medium" 1/6 cameras, unless you use one
of the non "35mm Leica" looking cameras from the now long gone Hasbro
Combat Photographer carded sets, but you might do well in hunting down
some of the 35mm and movie cameras loose on the various 1/6 dealer
markets from companies like Dragon, Hot Toys, and I think Soldier Story
(?). I add that last one as a friend of mine picked up a great boxed
set of a Modern Combat photographer that was loaded with great
photographer's gear. 35mm isn't dead in even real high end fashion
photography, and clearly not in the "shopping mall" glamor shot
boudoir stuff, so don't rule that out in your depictions.
As for "Bounce light" umbrellas, some dolls have umbrellas packed in
with them, some can be found on cards, if based on some kind of "rainy
day" motiff, and can be reworked to look like studio gear, but you are
going to have to be able to some good old fashioned "model making /
scratch building / kitbashing" work on your own to get it done. That
will also mean building things out of sheet plastic stock, brass and
plastic rod and tubing, for the rest of the items on your studio wish
list.

The other femme figure you can search for is the ZC girl...the re-
incarnation of the CY Girl.
Atlantic Toys has the basic bbi CY girl on sale now.
see this link:

I have dealt with Atlantic toys a lot over the years. Very good folks.
HTH again,

Years back I repainted a CC night vision unit into a pretty cool 35mm.
Finally, the HOF Cobra Commander had a serviceable (spell?) aluminum
case.

Thanks but I have quite a few of those AM SLRs with the long lenses, some of
which have been modified to give my guy everything from a 35mm wide angle
right through toi to a monster 400/2.8 white lens. I've even been making
lens hoods from the tops od Isotonic sports drinks in a foil sachet.
The current WIP can be seen at

I picked up a couple of very good dSLRs on eBay a couple of years ago, one
of which has three interchangable lenses.

Now that I will have to look out for. I was thinking of using some of the
Pelican gun cases but I would prefer aluminium boxes if possible.
I like that :-)
The torso is not spoiled by visible articulation.
Do you know how poseable they are?

That's a very disturbing site :-)

I have the WWII combat Photographer set somewhere but have never used it.
Must dig it out and see what the cameras look like again. I never saw a
modern combat photographer set.
I recall seeing a very nice 1:6 scale Leica IIIf in a box on a Singapore
eTailer site a couple of years ago but I can't find the link to it now.

I recognise some of the words but not the dialect. Scratch building? Plastic
rods? I'm not sure if I understand :-)
Thanks for the tips.
I have one of the ZC Girls as well, I got her at Good Stuff to Go and
it was quite reasonable. She is very good quality. I nice addition
to my co-ed Adventure Team.

Could this be the answer?
Yes, she cuts a nice figure.

Me? No, no, no, it's for Mini Me. Honestly :-)
It's a nice figure (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, grin, grin etc) but $31 to
ship it to the UK makes it too expensive.
