I've had strange things like that happen too. My latest was back
in early December. my last blood-kin aunt (well, last blood-relative,
period) died the week of Thanksgiving at the ripe old age of 98. Her
son & husband had died a few years earlier, so it just left me & her.
She had left me a couple of healthy CDs. Being an eBay junkie & with
my various collections in storage or in closets, I had been planning
to look for a bigger house. About 4 years ago, a 3350 sq/ft Dutch
Colonial on 4 acres that a family friend had owned about 30 years ago
had been put up for sale by the third owner. The realtor had an open
house one Sunday afternoon so I went to look, just look, 'cause I knew
the house & had liked it & the yard. By year's end it had been taken
off the market & I presumed sold. After my aunt died, I decided after
the first of this year I'd start looking for a new, bigger place
within or close to my inheritance amount & that was that. I hadn't
been back to this house since nearly 4 years early at the open house.
On a Saturday afternoon, 2 weeks after my aunt was buried I was on my
way back to work that afternoon, & this house is nearby anyway. I was
just about to turn in to work when 'something' told me to drive over &
see if "The Barn" as I call it, happened to be for sale again.
Remember, I hadn't been over there in about 3+ years after it was
taken off the market. Imagine my shock when I drove up & another
realtor had a sign by the driveway!! My first thought was, 'this ain't
right'! It was almost scary feeling. Anyway, I ended up buying the
place, with money left over to make a couple of fixes I wanted & then
some. Most everyone who hears this tale says that 'something' was my
late aunt, looking down upon me, knowing she had left me the money, &
the house was for sale & Iliked it & could afford it. It had been on
the market for less than a month & there were 2 other prospective
buyers in line, 1 was close to getting the down payment. Had I waited
til after the first of this year, it'd most likely have been sold. My
aunt knew how much I loved my toys & models & wanted to be able to
have room to display them all & she saw to it that I didn't miss out.
