Okay fellas, I'm working on a 1:6 (comic) Judge Dredd and I need to know
what the best, shiniest gold paint is I can buy at the store, that isn't
outrageously priced. I have this great silver paint I got at a car parts
store that makes stuff look like it's chromed. Is there anything like that
in gold? Will I need to polish? Is there are any website with tricks for
gold painting? Like multiple layers?

You have several choices.

Bare Metal foil is real metal ...

Humbrol Metal Cote metalizer ....

Alclad ....

What the best of the hobby say about using some of these ....

I know of people that will coat the final surface with Future Floor
wax, and maybe even polish the surface further with Novus polish.

You get the idea. Talk to people at a real hobby shop, and they will
be able to help you.

If you know how to work with it use Bare Metal Foil. And if you have
problems Eldred is always good about helping.

Nothing really looks like real metal, save for real metal, hence Bare
Metal Foil is the prime choice, but not everyone can work with it.

The Humbrol Metal Cote is the next best choice for me, as it is just
brushed on, allowed to dry, and then buffed to luster. Several coats
and buffing can produce fantastic results, but sealing it can be a bit
of a trick, and not lose the highest luster or color.

Still, it has done fine on a project like this detailed 21st
Motorcycle I worked up, this time I used the "Gun Metal" on the engine
parts, the machine gun, brakes, brake handles, the springs, and then
used a 20+ year old tin of Humbrol copper I had in my box, to do the
copper fuel valve.

You decide if you think it looks good enough for you.
