Just saw and almost bought this figure from Hasbro. Its pretty well
done. Except for the molded vest. Does anyone know if that thing comes
off? Maybe a means is on the back of the figure?

Yes, it comes off. It's attached with Velcro along both sides. I bought
one not to long ago. Pretty nice set for modern figures. The figure is
super articulated but has a huge head.
