How about something new?
Like a Shuttle flight crew helmet.
The ones from the mid to late 80s were a clam shell affair
with the seam running up along the ears and hinged at the top.
There were fasteners down along the neck to hold the halves
together. I haven't researched to see if they still use that style.
The things appear almost perfectly spherical with a very dark faceplate.
The Challenger crew photos show a red and blue stripe around the
neckline, and an American flag on top of the helmet.
