I don't know everything about UFOs and ET but I have limited knowledge from books.
Basically humanity is a mess and hasn't progressed much from bacteria. The nationalistic wars, 'go forth and multiply', general lack of self-control demonstrated to me that we are prisoners of genetic programming which we share with primitive life forms including bacteria.
