Kent, The FORT DES MOINES RESIDENTIAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
is not a museum.

Even the LINK you just posted has a MAP button.
If you call up the map and slide a little South
and West, along Thayer street a spot is actually
marked right on the map "Polk County Work Release Center".

Notice the aerial of the buildings by that text?

LOL!

FORT DES MOINES RESIDENTIAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, DES
MOINES, IOWA
The Fifth Judicial District has three separate residential facilities
located in the
southwestern area of Des Moines on the grounds of a former army post,
Fort Des
Moines. However, only one of these facilities serves probationers. The
remaining two
facilities serve the needs of OWI and Work Release populations
respectively. The area
surrounding the expansive grounds of the former army post is a mixture
of residential
and commercial structures.
The residential facility program for probationers was first
established in 1971. The
current single level facility was opened in 1999, after being newly
constructed, and has a
designated capacity of 80 male beds. Unlike other facilities, all beds
are reserved solely
for probationers. As of July 2000, the facility was operating at or
under its designated
capacity; however, there were an unspecified number of probationers
awaiting
admission at that time.

Culver signs infrastructure bill that keeps sex offenders on DM’s

William Petroski April 28, 2010 [ Catch that DATE? ]
