Washoe County District Attorney Richard Gammick said Monday a police
rifleman was justified in fatally shooting a Reno father in December
as he held his infant daughter and what appeared to be a handgun.
Reno Special Weapons and Tactics Officer Brad Norman shot Jeffrey
Violett once in the face Dec. 20 when Violett approached officers
carrying his 2-month-old daughter, Danielle, and what turned out to be
a plastic dart gun.
Violett, 30, a father of three, died Jan. 10 from complications
resulting from the wound, according to the Washoe County Coroner.
