Investigation shows self-defense in shooting death of son by police father
FROM STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS

Biloxi MS Sun Herald
POPLARVILLE - An investigation has shown that the shooting death of a Pearl
River County man by his Picayune police lieutenant father earlier this week
was self-defense and justified.

The investigation into the early Tuesday morning shooting death of
Christopher Todd Frierson, 22, by his father, Rickey Frierson, at the
father's home just outside Picayune was conducted by the Pearl River County
Sheriff's Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Capt. John Miller, an MHP investigator, said that while it was unlikely
that charges would be filed, the evidence was turned over to a grand jury
for review Wednesday. The outcome of that review was not immediately known.

Miller said police were called to the Frierson home on Sealcrest Road at
1:21 a.m. Officers arrived and found the younger Frierson had been shot. He
later died at Crosby Memorial Hospital.

Witnesses told police that Christopher Frierson had consumed alcohol and
that after an argument he physically attacked Torri Frierson, his sister,
holding a knife to her throat.

Miller said Christopher Frierson then confronted his father with the knife,
cutting him on the face. The father then shot his son to protect himself
and other family members, Miller said.

Investigators said the elder Frierson used his department-issued gun in the
shooting.

SEE! This is what I mean!... How is this police abuse? The officer made
probably the toughest decision a human being can make, but his son left him
no choice. He was intoxicated, violent. armed, and threatening the mans
daughter. I would have shot him too.

The cop lacked knowledge of how to handle the situation without killing.

He was trained to kill.

Maybe the kid was blackmailing him.

Doesn't sound like it. The kid managed to cut him in the face. If the
cop knew what he was doing, that wouldn't have happened. Of course,
being his own kid, perhaps he held back. If it were a stranger, I would
have shot him before he got within arms length. I don't have a son, so I
can't say how long I would wait in the same situation.

Hey, next time you're in a knife fight, let us know how you make out.

Why?

Do you lack the knowledge to deal with problems without killing?

Did the government train you to solve your problems with a gun?

Just because the government allows cops to kill people, it doesn't mean
you can't learn other methods.

Cops have evolved into killers. Cops didn't used to act this way.

They aren't interested in other methods as that will conflict with
their societal cleansing.

The kid killed by his father, the cop, learned to fix his problems
with violence from his dad.

Simple case of a lack of responsible parenting.

Many cops have problem kids.

Just as preachers often have.

We all crave to be unique.

I lack the knowledge to disarm a knife-wielding
thug without getting my ass cut to pieces. How
about you? And I didn't say I'd kill him. I said
I'd shoot him.

No, I"m self-taught.

What makes you think I'm a cop?

> Cops have evolved into killers. Cops didn't used to act this way.

Go to the academy, get a badge and show them
the error of their ways.

Right. That's it. You figured it out. Now
they'll have to kill you, too. Get your foil
beanie ASAP. Time's a'wastin'!.

Your insight into the situation is
breathtaking.

There's nothing wrong with being unique, as
long as we all do it the same way.
