A group of 23 bikers armed to the teeth and spoiling for a fight
Friday night rolled up to a Revere bar - in cars - only to be carted
away by state and local cops tipped off to their arrival, authorities
said yesterday.
All but one of the men are members of the Outlaws motorcycle gang,
state police spokesman Sgt. Ronald J. Sieberg. The cars were towed.
``No sooner had they arrived at the club then we pounced on them. We
were right behind them,'' Sieberg said. ``The bartender was in the
process of dialing 911 when we got there.''
The 23 men showed up en masse at the Surf Club, across the Blue Line
tracks from Revere Beach, about 10:30 p.m. Friday. Thanks to
intelligence gathered by the state police gang squad, Seiberg said,
authorities headed off any violence.
Investigators say the bikers were looking for members of a rival gang
but one regular patron at the bar said the men appeared to be looking
for an individual. ``Maybe someone messed up. They probably were going
bar to bar looking for him,'' the man said. A bartender at the Surf
Club said the trouble never entered the establishment. ``It all
happened outside,'' she said.
About 20 state troopers and several Revere police ``arrived on the
scene just before things got out of control,'' Sieberg said. The
officers confiscated a dozen knives, three handguns, bulletproof
vests, brass knuckles, Mace and a small amount of cocaine. ``They were
looking for trouble,'' Sieberg said.
All 23 men were taken to the Revere Police Department for booking and
face arraignment tomorrow in Chelsea District Court on a variety of
weapons and disorderly conduct charges.
Arrested were: Franco Attardo, 59, David Gore, 48, Peter Mancusi, 39,
