I thought these two parts of the article were particularly interesting.
"Those involved in the treatment community wonder: Why is society willing to
spend millions of dollars prosecuting and incarcerating addicts but precious
little on prevention or treatment that would keep people out of trouble with
the law; why is society willing to spend millions on foster care, but parents
with drug problems cannot get into treatment programs that could allow families
to stay together?"
"They find lawmakers skeptical when they present research by scientists showing
addiction is a chronic brain disease that can be successfully treated with a
combination of medical and psychiatric treatments.
"We have not been able to crack that nut," Fleming said. "And we probably
won't anytime soon."
"The gravest abuse of power - and the gravest threats to personal liberty and
security - are those in which the very individuals to whom we look for the
preservation of law and order turn out to be the predators."

What the fuq do you want me to do with this? I don't click on any of the
links provided by you or Viken. I have no desire to read them. I'm
tired of reading your BS excuses. But judging from the parts of the
"article" that you did post, I would have to say that now you're trying
to say it's society's fault that David didn't get the help he needed.
Jesus Christ, DJ!!!!! If you would have put forth as much effort into
helping that boy get his life in order as you have put into filing all
these law suits, and trying to prove that everyone else is wrong and you
are right, he might still be alive. All the money you've spent on
lawyers and vacations and scuba diving lessons could have been used to
help him or give him an incentive to get his life straightened out.. For
instance, maybe as an incentive, you could have made a deal with him.
If he got off drugs, got a decent job, stayed out of trouble with the
law, then you would help him purchase something he wanted. Like a sports
car, or a trip, or a college education, or a down payment on a home.
Those are just examples. Young people love money.
DJ, if you wanted to, I mean truly truly wanted to help that boy, you
could have. But you didn't. You waited until it was too late. Now
you're blaming and suing anyone you can get your hands on. It's not the
cops fault. It's not my fault. It's not DCI's fault. It's not Jafo's
fault. It's not society's fault. It's your fault!!!! You and the Dave
that lost his ID in a diving excursion, should have done more to help
that boy.
Yeah, I know. He was over 18 and you weren't able to force him to do
anything....blah, blah blah......
But you didn't have to force him. If he was going to listen to anyone
in this world, he would have listened to his parents.. You could have
been more of an influenece on that boy than anyone else in this world.
But you weren't.

This remark bears an unfortunate resemblance to DJ's infamous
"I don't go to any posted links in the NG. So, lets see how you
can back up that guarantee." :-(

That's why I said it. I like shoving peoples own words back down their
throat.
