NEW PROTEST AGAINST WEST BANK BARRIER AS PROBE DEMANDED INTO SHOOTING
QALQILYA, West Bank (AFP) - More than a thousand Palestinians were
joined by foreign peace activists in a demonstration in this West Bank
town against Israel's separation barrier, a day after troops fired on
a similar protest with live bullets.
The protestors brandished banners urging an end to construction of the
" Apartheid Wall". The barrier mainly consists of barbed wire fencing
but takes the form of a concrete wall around Qalqilya.
The army fired teargas and rubber-coated bullets to disperse the crowd
after they had been the target of stone-throwing, according to an AFP
photographer at the scene. Two protestors were slightly injured. In
the West Bank town of Bethlehem, around 50 foreign activists also
staged a protest against the barrier.
An Israeli pacifist and an American woman were wounded by Israeli
gunfire on Friday during another protest against the barrier involving
some 400 Palestinians and 150 foreign activists in a village southeast
of Qalqiliya.
Israeli troops threw teargas and then opened fire at the crowd which
was tearing down a metal gate built into the barrier.
Military sources confirmed LIVE BULLETS WERE USED AGAINST THE
PROTESTORS and that two of them were wounded as a result.
They said the troops fired warning shots to disperse the crowd and
then fired at protestors' legs, according to rules of engagement, to
stop them from making a hole in the gate.
It was the first time since the start of the intifada more than three
years ago that an Israeli had been wounded by live fire during the
course of a protest.
Labour opposition leader and former premier Shimon Peres has called
for an inquiry into Friday's incident, to determine why live rounds
were fired.
Despite an international chorus of criticism against the barrier,
which the US administration calls a "problem" as it juts deep inside
the West Bank, Israel says it is needed to prevent Palestinian
assailants from infiltrating its territory.
Palestinians say the barrier, which is slated for completion in 2005,
is little more than an attempt to pre-empt the borders of a future
two-state settlement.

bombers. If the suicide bombing would stop, the wall would not be needed
or justifiable and would eventually have to come down. Complaining about
the wall while doing nothing to stop the suicide bombing is just

I can't imagine that the, "Otherwise, fuck you" option would be too popular
with anybody other than those who are looking for a fight for fightings
sake. Perfectly fine if it were just entertainment, but for people like me
who don't really care who owns what piece of land in some far distant
country, it doesn't seem sober in the rational sense.
But if we want to treat the situation as entertainment, I'm game as long as
US homeland security isn't going to do anything about it.

Oy, my friend. I am on the spiritual front lines and money is almost a
hindrance towards my goals of liberation. If anybodys children have to be
killed or walls have to be built in order for me to come closer to my goals,
than there is far more going on than we can probably have an understanding

As I've written, the wall may be the right solution but I'm probably going
to base my opinion on the attitudes of the people who express their opinion.
If I read, "Otherwise, fuck off", I'll have a certain opinion about the
emotional place that person is deliverying their argument from. That
emotional place, as I see it, is not one I can agree with at this time, nor
can I see any future support for such an attitude. But that's just me.

Don't give up so easily. You could probably learn to do
something as simple as that "math" by yourself, but I suppose
calling for help is good when you feel that you're out of your
league.
Don't confuse arithmetic with math. It makes you look like some
sort of innumerate fool. The 11 to 1 ratio is no surprise.
Moslems vs. Jews, each doing their best, would show the same
results in any imaginable endeavour where the moslems get to use
their traditional "shoot them and their babies in the back"
approach.
