This is a deliberate crosspost attempting to put some life in some of
the newsgroups that are either in a coma, dead or dying. Don't flame
me, or do, just send something, dammit!
I've got tonnes of really cool stuff to post on my 5500... problem is
that my bro's laptop doesn't like zip drives.

The subject is.... cult childrens shows!
When I was little, I remember the Moomins, Dangermouse, The Magic
Roundabout, Thomas the Tank Engine, Sharky and George, and Count
Duckula!

For those who either want a reminder, heres a brief description of
them...
Moomins - Sweedish show about white hippos that lived in a windmill
with some other creatures. The theme tune and the brattiness of the
red one I remember...

Dangermouse - A secret agent, with his bumbling assistant. More
English than cups of tea.

The Magic Roundabout - yay! If you ever spot someone with a Dougal
bag, say hi to me! :-) nuff said

Thomas the Tank Engine - Who thought of making it into a movie WITHOUT
Ringo Starr deserves to be hung, drawn and quartered.

Sharky and George - the crimbusters of the seeeeeeeeeeea... strangely
dark for someone the age of 7. Took a while for me to get into it
though.

Count Duckula - Yes! Such a cool show! So English! So funny!

I also think that the Tweenies are a cheap rip-off from the Banana
Splits... look at the similarities people!

Okay people... go on...

How can you say that?? They are MOOMINS. Hence the name.

Only moomins lived in the house.
But they would have lots of visits from little my, and the kangaroo
looking one... can't remember his name.

That will be little my.

I loved it.

I only remember one of those you listed (Count Duckula), but I DO
remember these impossible forgettable shows:

1. Pee Wee's Playhouse - Was this possibly one of the best shows of the
late 80's, early 90's? Yes, I think so. Paul Reubens still rocks. :)

2. Simpsons - Still going strong. They have even marked histroy forever
by "D'oh!" being in the dictionary.

3. You Can't Do That On Television - One of the greatest shows on Nick.

4. Mr. Wizard - That man taught me more than school did.

5. Pete & Pete/Rugrats/Doug - Some of these are the more newer shows
than the ones I listed above, but Nick still got it right when they put
these on.

6. Ren & Stimpy - Where did they go?! Come on, they were an inspiration
of cartoonish comedy. :) (However, we have Invader Zim on Nick now and
that is about the only reason I watch Nick now is for that one 30 minute
long show - I highly recommend it).

7. Mr. Rogers Neighborhood - He finally put his sweater in the closet
for the last time and it was a great many years when he was doing shows.
Mr. Rogers, I salute.

If I have forget any, I apologize. :)

My source was cream.org. You have a problem, take it up with them.

Ah. My younger bro tended to like that more...

I wouldn't really count that because its mainstream. I'm kinda going
in the cult area...

Why don't they put the good stuff on nick uk?

I was a HUGE Pete & Pete fan. I can still watch that now, unlike Doug,
which now seems a little sugary. :-)

The only thing The Powers That Be have imported over to nick uk
recently was the amanda show... ugh.

No... I forgot tonnes more. I loved Ren and Stimpy when I was little (
still now ) and it managed to slip my mind... damn.

Alt.teens?

Oh.

Ah, nostalgia. Don't forget Fireman Sam and Postman Pat.

I didn't realise those were hippos.

And the Inspeteur Gadget cartoon, don't forget that.

Computer games are good. I used to have a Commodore 64. And a Master
System II with Alex Kidd in Miracle World built-in.

Yes.

I liked that. This Barrington Phaloung chap is good.

I was watching that a few weeks ago. Isn't it American?

...but as records of courts and justice are admissible, it can easily be
proved that powerful and malevolent magicians once existed and were a scourge
to mankind. The evidence (including confession) upon which certain women
were convicted of witchcraft and executed was without a flaw; it is still
unimpeachable. The judges' decisions based on it were sound in logic and
in law. Nothing in any existing court was ever more thoroughly proved than
the charges of witchcraft and sorcery for which so many suffered death. If
there were no witches, human testimony and human reason are alike destitute
of value.

klaatu:
public-access show from San Francisco
that was kind of like "Reading Rainbow"?

somebody would read to kids while cameras followed the pictures,
but they did underground stuff like Slow Death Funnies, Zap Comix,
Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Tales Of The Leather Nun, et cetera.
