Hi Everyone

In the nearby tanning center they use a smartcard reader/writer as a payment
method. Put money into the slut and insert the card. Then the money is
transferred to the card and can be used later.

My questions are:

How can I identify the chip in the card?

Can I make a copy of the card and write to it again?

What equipment do I need?

For some years ago I was very active in making smartcards for D2MAC and so
on but since I got cable I didn't bother to follow the development of
smartcards and SIM's.

Best regards

Morten

I think, the reasons why people use smartcards is, that they can't be
copied. In fact, they are like a file where you only have write and execute
permissions, but not read.

An ordinary smartcard reader should do.

Morten,

How can I identify the chip in the card? Check the
cards ATR, write this down and send it to me.

Can I make a copy of the card and write to it again? Depends on the card
if it has protection or not. Ill tell you when you send me the ATR.

What equipment do I need? Any 7816
compatible card reader should do the job, it will read I2C, 3W & 7816 cards

www.towitoko.de Chipcard is about £15 - 20.

Simple. It's a logical "can write", not a physical.
You need a key to get write and / or read access.
This key is stored in the both the reader or in the backend system and
the smartcard (provided you use symmetric keys, but I cannot imagine
that they use asymmetric keys on such a simple system).
