That's the major current theory, but it seems the original theory
sprang from the Battle of Monongahela, when the Frogs raised an
expedition into Pennsylvania... the pioneer/colonists situated there
were ready to jump into action to defend their lives and property, and
the British government ordered them to stand down and wait for an
official army of redcoats under general Braddock to defend them. The
badly organized and misdirected redcoats dawdled, failed pathetically,
and ran away, abandoning their weapons, guns, gear, etc. The colonists
managed to salvage what they could of the abandoned weaponry and
successfully repelled the Frog invasion. So the 2nd Amendment was a
legacy of that bitter memory, and is to enable us to defend our homes
and property when the fuck headed government is too lazy and stupid to
do it for us,
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free
State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be
infringed."
Modern propagandized history has that event all distorted, and makes
Braddock and his Army look like a bunch of heroes who fought valiently
and bravely and were defeated. That bullshit should make any red
blooded American want to puke.
