Most popular humor is of the "slapstick comedy" variety, which is
based in ridiculing the vanity and pomposity of the "great and
famous", from kings and presidents down to mayors and police captains,
priests, lawyers, company presidents, teachers, bartenders, landlords,
etc...
Today it seems that for whatever reason, the "great and famous" are
making such obvious buffoons and idiots of themselves that would-be
humorists and comedians, comics and wise guys, don't know where to
begin to get a handle on this.
How do you make jokes about a President being retarded when he really
is? How do you make jokes about mayors and public officials being
buffoons and crooks when they make no effort to conceal the fact? The
Keystone Cops don't hold a candle to current supposed real world "law
enforcement". Today the daily news has replaced Comedy Central, news
anchors have replaced Beavis and Butthead, and the "humor industry" is
losing ground.
