Somtovia-St.Papinian.
His Beatitude Our Beloved Patriarch was most astonished to discover the
existence of divers "Micronations" in the world. Amazing though it
seems to the Patriarchate's citizens now, our country was in a sort of
vacuum, going its own way, completely unaware of the existence of these
other great and ancient nations, some dating back as over ten year --
which, in doggie, whoops, micronation years, might as well be several
thousand.
His Beatitude likened his astonishment to that of King Atahualpa of the
Incas, who awoke one morning to find out that not only was he not alone,
but he was about to be conquered!
His Beatitude has asked me, as Secretary of State, to correct the
situation as rapidly as possible, that Greater Somtovia may actually
take its place amongst the other nations of the world.

To Our Most Beloved Fellow Prince von Zugesbucht,
and All who may chance to read the Letters: greeting.
We are most deeply honoured and flattered that Your Royal Highness has
seen fit to give Us this Ringing Endorsement.
Most other Micronations, perhaps Doubtful of Our Sincerity, have yet to
respond to the News of our Existence.
Nonetheless, it is the Quality, rather than the Quantity, of our
United Patriarchate's friends that is most Significant!

An interesting side note to all this is the fact that I've known "Filthy
Pierre" (Erwin S. Strauss) for 20 years... sit around playing music
with him at science fiction conventions all the time ... had many
good times ... yet never NEVER knew that he had written a book that
seems to be the Bible of Micronationhood....
Wonders will never cease!
