I'm pleased to announce that we've been able to construct a complete and working PNX Release 1 hard disk image for use with PERQemu. A set of installation floppies is available now too. PNX was an early port of Version 7 Unix, a subset of System III, developed for the PERQ by ICL. As part of the SERC "Common Base" programme, PNX and PERQs were used at several universities throughout the UK in the early-to-mid 1980s.

If there are any PERQ afficionados in the UK who might be able to provide any other PNX software or documentation, please contact me! I'd love to be able to include more materials with this release.

And maybe you could weigh in on the question of pronunciation: was it P-N-X, or "Peenix"? :-)

Enjoy!
